A tiny piece of paradise hidden in a faraway place. We couldn't have chosen a better place to celebrate 30 years of marriage with friends.
There were a few weather related transfer hitches, but the staff more than made up for these with their charm, generosity, warmth, and excellent cocktails! We chose an all-inclusive package which was excellent.
Delicious, healthy food at every meal, with plenty of choice.
Huge cabaña right on the beach with sumptuous bed and pillows and a huge indoor/outdoor bathroom. Excellent aircon or ceiling fan.... or just tropical breezes.
But the overriding positive is the staff. Special mentions to Jordan, 'Pocho' and Ricardo, who all made our holiday so special, each in their own way.
We will never forget the surprise which they arranged for us on our last night. Our very own bespoke 4 course dinner on the beach. It was so romantic... with the most amazing food, firepit, flowers and candles. Even the chef came down to tell us all about the food.
I would go back in a flash. It's worth the journey every time.... it only makes it more of an adventure.
Gracias a todos!

Yemaya is an absolutely beautiful resort in every way. The location is incredible - it really is an untouched area in the Caribbean, which makes the beaches and area of the island so pristine. We had a bungalow with a plunge pool (highly recommend if they are available) for 7 nights, and wish we could have done another week! The rooms were amazing, and the housekeeping team did a great job. My fiance and I got engaged while we were there, so it will always be extra special to us, but it was the perfect place to celebrate.
We ended up going into town 1 day (about a 30 min walk), but otherwise had all of our meals at Yemaya. The food and drinks were very good, and we didn't feel any real reason to have to go into town for meals. There's plenty of excursion options, but otherwise the beach is great to simply relax. Possibly the most memorable part of our stay was the staff - they were all so welcoming and accommodating! Specifically Alvaro, Jash, and Jon.
After reading other reviews, we knew the legs of the trip to get to the island would be adventurous, and they really were! The public panga is a little stressful if the waters are rough, but it is SO worth it.
Overall, we couldn't have enjoyed our week more, and cannot wait to come back!

I was apprehensive to travel the many legs it took to arrive at Yemaya Resort, but I can tell you that each segment was worth it to get there. From the United States we had to fly into Managua, take a jumper plane to Big Corn Island and then a taxi for the boat ride, which was semi-treacherous. We actually set out on a small boat and returned for a much larger one to avoid buckets of water in our faces. When we approached Little Corn Island, the angels were singing and the picturesque view of the resort nestled among the wild palms set my heart at ease.
Our room was absolutely perfect as we looked out on our deck to see the plunge/infinity pool seemingly spilling into the ocean and framed with two palms. It could not have been more inviting. The best mixture of rustic beauty and supreme comfort were nothing short of what a Colibri hotel has to offer.
The walkways were peppered with lit conch shells and the sculptures were worthy of many photos complete with many flowering plants to color up the place.
We were made to feel special and welcome with the pleasant and helpful staff. The food options were many ranging from their country's specialties........Rondon soup was superb as was the ceviche and fish freshly caught. One night in particular, I was not feeling so well and the chef made a special bowl of rice pudding that hit the spot. Our days were spent in complete relaxation on a beach mostly private. The only thing to worry about was setting a lounge chair out of the way of falling coconuts. We did walk to town once, but there was not much that was open, so we took a boat taxi home and spent most of our other days exploring the beaches by foot. The water was so inviting that dips in and out of the ocean were frequent.
The massage that I had was one of the best ever and was so peaceful with the lit candles and the falling rain outside. I cannot say enough great things about our experience here and have reflected on it many times now that I am back to work. It takes me back to the optimal tropical vacation that not many people have dared to explore..........a true hidden gem away from the hectic demanding world we live in! Please come experience this type of vacation for yourself.......you will not be disappointed! Never saw one mosquito due to the ever present breezes blowing. Felt extremely safe due to guards on duty at night.
One cause of concern was the return trip by boat and worried that the weather would cooperate so that we would not have to reschedule flights. Luckily, all went well in that area too.

The first thing you notice as you approach the property from the sea is the beautiful setting. Set on a bluff where each of the bungalows overlook a private pure white beach, we could tell this was something special. Then you are lead through the beautiful grounds with unique statues and artwork. All of the bungalows are tastefully furnished and every detail was thoughtfully appointed. All of the staff were exceptional from the manager and waitstaff, Angela, Jash, Ron, Muriell and Mark the groundsman who brought us fresh coconut water every morning. The menu is somewhat limited but the food is so good you could easily eat the same thing twice. The ceviche was the best we have had since our trip to Peru. Everyone on the island was very friendly and helpful. Both Corn Island and Little Corn and not affected by the politics of the mainland so this has never been an issue for us. Must see place.

Book this trip! My husband was not very happy I was dragging him along to this remote very hard to get to island and even he said the moment we got to Yemaya "Wow this is amazing and totally worth it!" I did a TON of trip advisor research on Yemaya before I booked our ticktets for 3 flights and a boat. Most of the reviews were good and then you'd read the bad ones. I have to say after staying at Yemaya for 5 nights last month that it was a wonderful experience. The beach Yemaya is on is the most beautiful on the island. It was stunning with wild palm tree jungles lining the beach, a lack of people, and turquoise water. It really was everything I wanted it to be. The rooms were very nicely designed, very clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. The lighting design they have in the bungalows was great with lots of dimmable uplighting making for a romantic and chill vibe. The one complaint I did have as that the dipping pool really wasn't warm enough to get into until about 3pm. It would be nice if they could heat the pools. As for complaints about the service- again we had really good service, not as fast as in New York City, where I live, but why would I expect that? And as for the complaints about it being expensive. If you think an 8 dollar cocktail is expensive, I'd tell you you're crazy. Yes, most cocktails on the island are 4 dollars, but most aren't as good and 8 dollars still isn't expensive. The food was over all tasty and good at Yemeya with only a couple misses. Another cool thing about this island is there aren't that many tourists. We were often the only people on the beach and never more than a handful of others. And the tourists that were there, or atl east the ones we talked to were cool, friendly and adventurous. The boat ride there was, and I won't lie, quite terrifying. The waves were huge and I felt like we are going to tip over at any point. But we didn't and the ride was worth it! The ride on the way back wasn't bad at all as the waves were going in a different direction. I also heard from the Yemaya staff that they are fixing their boat, which was much bigger to take passengers from Big Corn to Little Corn at some point in the future. I definitely go back to Yemaya again This vacation is for you if you are looking to be far way from people, on an island that isn't.over developed with beautiful beaches and you just want to chill.

Dear guest, Thank you for your extensive and fantastic review. We appreciate the time you took and the detail you went into. We are delighted that you enjoyed our facilities, our remote tropical island and mostly the people and the service we all provide with so much caring. We are happy to read you left the island feeling relaxed and pampered. As you can imagine, we are very mindful of our location and the impact it has on the environment, we are very careful on our carbon footprint, therefore heating the room plunge pools would require an additional use of diesel and gas to make it happen, so we leave it for the sun and wonderful weather to make them as enjoyable as they are following a natural cycle of temperature. Your words give meaning to what we do and encourage us to continue! We look forward to welcome you back sometime soon. Kind regards, Diana López Yemaya Operations Manager

Yemaya is breathtakingly beautiful resort. The rooms are top notch and the resort is extremely well maintained. The housekeeping staff does an outstanding job. We had wonderful massages. I would highly recommend going to Yemaya and we would go back in a heartbeat. That said the restaurant needs serious work, the menu needs to be revamped. We went to town to eat most of our meals because not only was food more expensive than other better choices. Frankly the food was lacking in flavor. There was not an daily happy hour or snack menu. The restaurant did not serve any standard snack food on the beach and they did not have French Fries made from potatoes they had Jack Fruit Fries? If the food was better and menu had more standard options we would have ate more meals at Yemaya. The walk to town is about 30 minutes and you can find better food in town which is sad considering Yemaya is the nicest place on all of the island and should have the best food. The staff was wonderful and accommodating however there did not seem to be a manager (that I saw or spoke to us) that on site all the time that was managing the younger staff. I also would have loved to see some blow up floaties or noodles that guest could relax in the water with. Overall the resort itself is absolutely amazing a rare gem and I highly recommend going! I hope that management and owners can take this constructive criticism to heart, they are so close to being a perfect 10 resort.

Dear guest, We thank you for your feedback, thank you for all the positives you mention and we are truly happy you enjoyed your stay, particularly the highlights you mentioned. As for our restaurant, we proudly prepare nicaraguan and caribbean food with a flare, we use only natural ingredients and try to present our guests with what the islands and this beautiful country has to offer. We believe that the flavors of the land are a great choice, not only because of their freshness, but also as it provides for a further way to discover the place our beautiful hotel is located in. Jack Fruit Fries, for example, is one of the ways we invite our guests to try what the islanders eat in their daily life. As for the Management, we actually live on site, so we are always around, I am sorry that we did not get to meet in person. At times, some of our efforts are also at the back of the house, perhaps less visible to some guests. Our remote location presents several challenges that require strong and good mangement so that our guests, like you, find the property in optimal state, well mantained, spotless and full of attention to detail. The young and wonderful staff you encountered are formed by our dedication, passion and constant training. Thank you very much again for your feedback, it is very valuable to us. Best regards, Natalia Redondo Colibri Boutique Hotels

Our cabanas, right on the beach, were very clean, confortable, and had all the amenities we needed. The location is perfect offering the nicest beach of the island and snorkelling a few steps from our cabanas. Massage service is great also! If you are looking for breathtaking views, calm environment, and friendly people, this is it!

Yemaya is a lovely resort-like boutique hotel. The space is extremely well designed and beautifully set on a small quiet beach. Our room was very comfortable and included all needed amenities all of which were of high quality. The "plunge pool" on our deck was a very nice perk. People on staff are very polite and attentive. The only glitch is breakfast which is strangely meager which we found totally contrary to the overall special quality of the place.

If you visit Little Corn Island you have to understand that during certain months (we were told Mid-December thru Jan) there can be high winds. This means you may have great difficulty getting to and from this island; under no circumstances should you assume that you can get off the island and catch an 8:00 AM flight from Big Corn. Most of the units in the hotels don't get the full impact of the wind. The property is very lovely, the units large, electric power is available 24 hours (that is not true with most hotels on the island), beach very nice, excellent restaurant. If you wish to scuba dive, contact Drek's directly ($70 a dive vs. $100 thru the hotel). Only short coming to hotel is that it is a 25-30 minute walk to town, so you can only go for lunch or pay the hotel $20 each way to take you there by boat.

Dear guest, We thank you for the wonderful things you highlighted in your review about all the aspects of your stay that you enjoyed so much, like our spacious rooms or our beautiful beach, we are also very glad you enjoyed our restaurant so much. Indeed, being a small island in the Caribbean, we are affected by different natural conditions, particularly winds, which can affect the kind of boats allowed in and out the island. However, this isolation and nature surrounded and dependant is the beauty and uniqueness of Yemaya and Little Corn. We do believe your advice is good and travelers in that time of the year can benefit to plan for a night in Big Corn prior and after their stay to have some cushion in case the winds delay the frequency of the boat transportation for flights. However, it is also true that many of our guests through that same period were able to come in and off the island without any sort of delay. As per our location, indeed is a 25 minute walk amidst luscious vegetation to go into town, but that is what provides us with our unique spot on the most beautiful beach on the island. We trust that our crystal waters and calm long stretch of unspoiled beach makes it worth it. We hope you keep many wonderful memories of your time with us and come back to visit us again some time soon. Kind regards from all of us at Yemaya, Natalia Redondo Colibri Boutique Hotels

The trip to Little Corn involves some effort but once you arrive you'll discover your own private island and Yemaya is the perfect place to stay.
The WiFi is fast enough, the air conditioning is cold, the hot water is hot - and the facilities are excellent. The idea that you get all that plus a perfect breakfast each day on this remote island is amazing.
We loved our room and private balcony. The staff is beyond excellent. It's the kind of place where even the landscape guys are friendly and say "hello". The team speaks excellent English and will do anything you need (they even ordered my wife's tea bags and had them flown over from Managua). The management has achieved a level of excellence rarely witnessed in remote accommodations.
The beach is beautiful. Lounge chairs, hammocks, kayaks, masks/snorkels, and paddleboards are in plentiful supply. The hotel restaurant is open, breezy, and comfortable and delivers on its promises.
