Detailed Reviews
I loved our stay at Arenas Beach Hotel. I didn't want to leave. We had a room in one of the bungalows that had an ocean view. I chose this hotel because it was on the west side of the island so we could enjoy sunsets every night and it sits on a beautiful sandy beach with crystal clear calm waters. The bar is right on the sand and is made from an old boat. I drank many Tonas at the bar. Meals are served right on the beach also so you always have an ocean view. The staff were very friendly and always smiling. Special thanks to Marlyn who served us most of the time but I liked all of the servers and bartenders. The manager set us up with a taxi driver named Edwin who goes by "Puma". He was great. He gave us his phone number so we called him anytime we needed a ride. I'll miss Puma. I would stay there again if I ever return. With love, The Bear and two pretty ladies. Toronto, Canada

I traveled with a group of 10 people and left the island relaxed and counting days for our next visit.
Food was just AMAZING, breakfasts were the best way to start our days there, Marlin was very good to us, very professional and helpful, we hope to see her in our next time there. *in photos with my mom❤️
Bring sunscreen and bugs repellent, ask for beach towels and no hot water in room.

This hotel has the best beach...not just on corn island but all of Caribbean, possibly world! I know it surpasses Mediterranean, Aegean and Caribbean beaches I have seen. The white beautiful sand, beautiful cabanas, excellent service and safe feeling make this hotel one which you want to return to time and time again.
I cannot say enough about the staff. They immediately make you feel like family, taking care of any requests and offering help throughout your stay. Bungalows have great decks and the comfort rooms are excellent if you want more amenities.
Food is amazing!
We came to big corn island twelve years ago and have stayed here for everyone of all six trips to corn island that followed. Every visit is even better. Best hotel and best experience! This time we brought our son daughter in law and 6 yr old granddaughter...and they loved everything about it.
Thank you to owners and the amazing staff for another fabulous stay!

The place is a nice beach spot. However, the staff was awful. They paid no mind to the room we requested. They wanted to place us in a room looking over a bunch of garbage and fallen trees rather than putting us in a better room with a nice view to the beach as we first requested. Mind you we were the only guest in the hotel and yet they wanted to charge different rates for all four nights due to the holidays. Yet they had no guests! After seeing the view of the room I requested I be refunded and left to Casa Canada.
Staff could be much nicer.

My wife and I stayed here 6 nights. Rooms are clean, spacious and the hot water was nice. Service at the front desk was very nice and accommodating. The grounds and hallways were always clean and being paid attention to. Lots of sand getting tracked around by guests so cleaning was full time. The Bar and restaurant were average. Food was okay, drinks were weak. Our stay included breakfast but they do not offer substitutions. Example; I Oder the pancakes that come with ham. They will take off the ham but would not let me substitute plantains unless I paid for them. Service staff was very nice and always wanting to help if they could.
There does seem to be a relationship with the Hotel and the beggars on the beach. You will be constantly asked to buy coconut water from a dozen or so adults and kids all day long. This gets really old really fast.
Overall we enjoyed our stay.

We spent (two couples) three lovely nights and beach days on Big Corn and would book right back here. The small hotel complex is located on the longest and by far the most beautiful beach on the island, with its own sunbeds under palm trees for its guests, a boat bar and breakfast/lunch Bungalow on the beach. The complex consists of clean lovely bungalows with a hammock on each terrace and friendly service at reception, good breakfast and lunch menu. All in all, it is probably the best accommodation on the small island. The sunsets are top. With the small, cheap taxis we went to small nice restaurants for dinner. Fish and lobster at unbeatable prices were our favorite foods. It can get a bit noisy on the beach on weekends when the adjacent Chiringitos turn up their music boxes.

Horrible smelled of mold. Asked for a different room because of the smell and they said they were sold out, once I asked for a refund a room magically appeared. Which wasn’t that much better. The customer service here is horrible they are not attentive. The airport service that is supposedly included left us stranded because it was after 2pm. Thankfully we found a taxi drivers

We enjoyed our stay here. The rooms were basic but fine - perhaps a little noisy from time to time given each of the garden units had four rooms with wooden floors and the bed was very uncomfortable. But the overall site with its shallow beach and calm sea was amazing and worth the trip.
The restaurant had a basic menu - I wouldn’t recommend the pizza which was bland - but the kitchen can cope with some variations if you ask (we failed on bacon and on onions but garlic was good). Turning down the loud throbbing music in the evenings would be good.
Reception was very helpful throughout.
With Covid recovery a lot of places on the island have not reopened or have closed down. Arenas is probably the best of the bunch right now given its size and the unique advantage
It has of its beach.

I recently had the opportunity to stay at Arenas Hotel on Corn Island, and while the location and setting had their charms, my experience was unfortunately marred by some significant issues.
First, let’s talk about the atmosphere. The hotel has a delightful beach vibe that is truly inviting. Each shared bungalow is equipped with hammocks right in front, providing the perfect spot to relax and soak in the tropical surroundings. However, the comfort of the accommodations left much to be desired. The beds were incredibly hard, which made it difficult to get a good night's sleep.
The biggest disappointment, though, was the level of service. I found the attentiveness of the staff to be lacking, which was surprising given the beautiful setting. Restaurant staff often seemed disinterested and at times even annoyed when we made simple requests. For example, asking for sugar for our coffee during breakfast felt like a chore for them, and there were instances when they simply walked away without addressing our needs. It's puzzling why basic items like sugar weren't already on the tables during breakfast service.
In summary, while the beach vibes and the setting of Arenas Hotel are wonderful, the hard beds and lackluster service significantly detracted from my stay. With some improvements in staff training and guest interactions, this hotel could truly be a gem on Corn Island.

The pics online vs reality are far from the truth. I booked a king size bed in a bungalow with ocean view for the weekend of Jan 14th-16th to surprise my husband and it was a total disappointment. I could only compare to a cheap motel room. I immediately requested to get the room I was offered and paid for and they said they were booked. This reservation was made through Schuvar Tours. The way that the situation was handled shows that it happens all the time and the administration knows you have no choice. I would not recommend this place or agency.
