The rooms are fine, the locationj great but it is Ike Siu who makes this resting place ideal onj Big Corn Island. Ike looks after his guests. He does everything from airport and ferry pick-up to arranging rooms for the next place on the traveler's itinerary. Eva , his assistant, makes sure all the necessities are done to top standards. Her lobster dinner is to die for. When I mentioned to Ike that I loved the architecture of the original homes on the island, we decided to make a photo show of most of them. Check out his website to see some of these special plaes. Special for me was meeting many of the families who are original residents. Ike made my final week in Nicaragua one of the most memorable. You won't be disappointed if you stay here.

We stayed at Ike's Place twice and highly recommend it. Breezy northern location means always a cooling breeze and no bugs! Ike is a great host who helped us tremendously. He stored our luggage when we went to Little Corn Island, printed out documents for us and helped us to try and get a refund from Tica Bus. He picked us up at the boat and drove us to the airport. Having a frdge and coffee maker in the room was great. Eva makes a lovely breakfast and the rooms are cleaned daily and she did all our laundry. It's an idael place to stay on Big corn Island.

We stayed only a couple of days on Corn Island and stayed with Ike. He is a fount of information about the island -- where to go, where to eat. Unfortunately, his car is out of order but he arranged a tour of the island. Breakfast is extra but other eateries are a bit of a walk. Comfortable, clean with beautiful views.

We emailed Ike about 10:00 pm the night before we flew to Big Corn Island to see if he could accommodate our family of three the following day and the rest of the week. I had a reply very quickly that he did, and he also offered to pick us up from the airport. From that point on we knew we were in good hands. Ike picked us up from the airport and showed us our room. It had a mini fridge (awesome!) that kept our beer and water cold. It also had an A/C unit if we needed it. The room was basic, yet clean and right across from the street from the beautiful ocean. He even has snorkel gear for his guests to rent if needed. Ike is a great host, people are not lying. He loves the island and wants to make sure you have a great time. I highly recommend staying here. You won't regret it.

We got married at Ike's place and it was the most romantic marriage ever, thanx to Ike ! The first time we visited Big Corn Island was 2 years ago and we stayed at Ike's place because he had awesome reviews. Well, they are not lying. Ike is the most amazing host and person ever. He is friendly, honest, trustworthy and has a big heart. Because our first experience about the island and Ike was so wonderful, we decided to come back and get married here. It was just two of us, no friends or family, we just wanted to keep it simple,and Ike just took care of absolutely everything. He went to the judges office to figure what papers we need, he supplied us with the decoration and because we had no witnesses, he agreed that he and his cousin will take the role. His other cousin was building an altar for us on the beach just opposite Ike's place. The best thing was that we were decorating together, it really felt like we are part of his family. For the ceremony the cousins brought their little daughters and they were sprinkling flowers from their little baskets....Ike made our marriage perfect and unforgettable. We stayed for tree weeks all over, combined it with our honeymoon. Ike is a good friend and the best thing about him is that he treat's everybody the same way. He takes care personally that every guest is happy with the services, food and everything. The rooms are always clean with a breathtaking view on the ocean and the sunset, the fridge is always full with beer and water and Ike is always there for advice or help. Ike's place will stay for ever in our hearts. Staying at his place is a wonderful and unique experience.

I highly recommend this hotel for a business traveler and single women!
Let me begin with the man himself. Ike is a wonderful host. I could bug him a thousand times a day and his patience never wore off. Ike is knowledgable, friendly and wants to make sure you have a great experience.
I travel with my work so I had a few 'special needs'. The island is known for so-so internet and electric going off usually once a day. So for those days I am working, I needed a high speed internet connection and electric. Ike supplied that for me. Ike has wifi or cabled internet - I've used both and they were great! I've held business calls with complete clarity and done some heavy internet usage and haven't experienced any issue. If the electric is out, Ike is willing to keep things running with his backup generator. So far, it hasn't been an issue but having the peace of mind that it's available has been so worth it. Also a nice little item for a business traveler, Ike has desks in most of the rooms which has been extremely helpful for me.
More about the room: Modest, clean and comfortable furnishings. The bed feels brand new and all the appliances are working. I opted to go without AC and haven't regretted it at all. All the rooms have a fan and I haven't felt the need to have AC. I can see and hear the ocean from my room and every time I look out to those waters it's like I can't believe my eyes.
Snorkeling is great right outside Ike's and Ike rents out snorkel equipment from the office. There's a nice coral reef with several types of fish. You can always hire a tour to go out on a different snorkel or diving excursion but I'm pretty pleased with whats available right in front.
So two thumbs up for Ike's and I'll recommend his place to all my friends and family!

I am normally not writting comments about places where I stayed but for Ike I am pleased to write some lines. Ike is for me one of the most remarkable persons I met in my life. He was so helpful and did much more then a person is doing owning a place for renting rooms to tourist. In Ike´s cabanas you are not a number or somebody unknown, you are a friend whom he is helping as much as he can. There are already more comments about him showing you around the island and telling you where you find good food. For me and my wife he was much more. We got ill and he drove us to the doctor and hospital, help us with translation and cared also after that so much for us that we got fast healthy again and could enjoy some days on this nice island.
If you are searching a place to stay, there is no other chance then to choose Ike´s place.

Ike Siu makes it almost too easy for you to come to this island and just let your former life melt away into sheer memories (at least until you unfortunately have to return). You are treated somewhere between a long lost cousin and an honored guest by both Ike, as well as Eva, who's way around a kitchen in enviable. There are few small pleasures equal to sitting in the covered patio in the morning with a pitcher of coffee that Ike's placed on your table, and either read a book or open your laptop with the free wifi that he offers as the "winds from the north" consistently blow a gentle breeze. Even though there are great water activities available and some great pristine crystal beaches around every corners from his place, some of my most memorable time on the island were the mornings spent on the patio. With only 4 rooms, you're bound to feel an intimacy of the place, and if there is anything of the island that Ike cannot offer you himself, just give him one or two phone calls and consider it done (but don't be surprised when the conversations fluctuate between English, Spanish, and the local Creole - a Corn Island special) A true host, a local son, and a world traveller with the knowledge of a visitor's needs is who you will find in Ike when you stay at his place, Vientos del Norte.

A great place to stay we spent 5 nights at Ike's, and we could not have enjoyed our time there more. Ike is a delightful and super helpful host. The rooms were comfortable and great value, on the north end, which is bug free, slightly breezier than other places on the island, but nil need for air con at nights with the ocean breeze. Ike gave us a tour around the island and shared his local knowledge which enhanced our time on the island. He also arranged a fishing trip with local fishermen for my husband and friend, who had great success, bringing us home dinner, which was then prepared by Eva. A top spot with a great host.

Ike's Place Vientos del Norte was an absolutely wonderful place to stay. You will not find a more warm and comforting place to stay. My boyfriend and I stayed there a little over a week. Ike is soo nice and very friendly. His helper, Ava, was wonderful as well. She is very quiet, but a great cook and very sweet. Ike made us feel welcome and comfortable the entire time. We really would love to go back to big corn some day, and when we do, we will be staying at Ikes. Thank You Ike for everything!!

"We loved our room on the second floor, north west side. Great views, surrounded by the sea! Ike stocking the fridge with beers was a really nice touch (we only paid for what we drank upon checkout), so if this interests you, check with Ike to see if he has some beers handy. Wifi is available downstairs in the outdoor area, but does not carry well up to the rooms."
