This hotel is pretty good. The price for a room is $35 if you want a room that shares a bathroom or $45 for a room with your own individual bathroom.

The room I do not recommend to take is room# 1. This room is on the ground floor and is closer to the outside, so you will always get insects crawling into the room.

The best room I recommend is #9, it has an amazing view and is newer and super clean.

As for the menu, the prices are pretty decent. But if you walk 2 minutes into town, you can buy cheap food from anywhere from $40 Cordobas ($1.60 U.S) to $155 Cordobas ($6 U.S).

Be aware that this hotel only accept cash and does not have credit cards or debit. Also, you don't need to call in advance to reserve, you can just come anytime to get a room.

I recommend to bring Cordobas instead of U.S., because although the local are honest and will give you the correct exchange price, you still loose about 20% of the dollar if you pay with U.S.

In addition to the above, here are some things I recommend to bring with you if you come to Corn Island:

- bug repellent (believe me, you will need this at night when you're eating)
- Lots o sun block
- beach chairs (There's only 2 in Picnic Centre that everyone can use)
- Snorkell equipment (Although it can be cheap, $25 per person, it's cheaper if you take a taxi and snorkell around the restaurant "Cebas" for free)

On the last note, this hotel is pretty good for it's price. I wanted to rate is a 3.5, but unfortunately it wouldn't let me do it.

P.S. be nice to the staff, many people don't realized that Nicaragua people work anywhere from 12 to 14 hours 6 days a week, sometimes they will be tired and not as attentive due to the amount of work they do.

The place is good, it´s not luxury but It's very comfy, not expensive and the service is good, the restaurant is one of the best in the island, even local people and from other hotels go there because It is so good, and the beach is the best of all the island, the water is calm, clear, no rocks or seaweed, It has Volleyball net and you can even play soccer with the local people every afternoon. Definitely liked It and It´s a must to go back.

Picnic Center is on a great swimming beach and is fine if you don't need fancy rooms (Think low-end Motel 6). It's wonderful to be there on Sunday, when many local families come out to enjoy the beach. Corn Island kids are friendly and fun to watch. The restaurant is good,/average food, service is at a slow island pace. The facility is clean as it can be, but there are a lot of rusty nails sticking out on wood lounges, cabanas and even in the rooms. We had the upstairs room with a great balcony view of the sunsets.

PICNIC CENTER RESTAURANT
Hello everyone, I am making this post to report the poor treatment that my family and I received by the Staff of the Pic-Nic Center Restaurant on Corn Island on August 10.
I ordered 2 bites, 1 of chicken, the other fingers, when we were eating, almost finished, we found a fly between the ribs of the chicken and that piece is the one that my partner was eating. You can imagine how disgusting that is and even worse, our baby. I had already eaten that same piece.

I know that many will say ahh that doesn't kill anyone, blah blah but my point is the following when I called the waitress to report the incident she didn't say a word and just took the plate away, when I returned I asked her and then, at She answers because I'm waiting for a response to see what can be done and I asked the question to see if at least she was going to apologize and nothing.

Well, she came back to the table all angry and said: My boss says he's going to blow his top at 250, with the original cost being 360, that is, it's lower than 110 Córdobas. I didn't mind paying for it all since we had already consumed it, but the deal was horrible and the person in charge didn't even show up to apologize, but that is the treatment that many of the Natives receive because if that had happened to a foreigner they would ask for thousands of apologies but because we are the same Cornish people we always receive bad treatment and I speak for many because it is not the first or last time something like this happens at Picnic Center.

Wash and prepare your chicken well before serving, because one of the pieces was just bone dipped in flour.
And I will also add that they charged us for a large bottle of water at 100 pesos when clearly on their menu the updated price is 70 Cordobas. Without further ado I say goodbye.

We picked the 'Picnic Center Hotel' on the basis of outdated information in the 2005 edition of the Moon Handbook guide to Nicaragua which made it sound like paradise located on the best swimming beach of the island and a thoughtful owner.

Rooms were $35 US dollars a night including TV, air conditioning and a private bath. The new owner (Robert?) told us the only room he had didn't have a TV which we were ok with. The room was rustic and cell-like, without a shred of art on the walls. One of the screens was ripped so the mosquitoes made it in late at night and feasted on us. The air conditioning did work very well though. After checking in, we were reminded that we should be careful about the security of the room and that the owner was not liable (note - we were very aware of this, but having it pointed out made it seem even sketchier).

The shower was grim and not very clean (no hot water available).

The highlight of Picnic Center Hotel is the fact that it is directly on a beautiful white sand crescent shaped beach with crystal clear blue water. The swimming is great and there is no undertow or big drop off.

The restaurant was a cute open-air thatched roof place and a band played there the afternoon we arrived ("Caribbean Taste"). The food was excellent - $13 for the best grilled lobster ever!

A little love could revive this hotel and make the most of the stunning location. It wouldn't take much at all, but as it is, I wouldn't recommend staying at the hotel, but the restaurant and beach are worth a visit.

Pasta was nice and in big portions! staff was attentive and nice! Free Wi-Fi is also offered. prices wise was a bit more than the usual, but for the beachfront view that the Picnic center restaurant offers it was fair enough!

Some of the better food we had on Big Corn. It was a slow night so I dunno if the server was grouchy or what not, but the food more than made up for it. The fried fish was amazing. Lobster kabobs were also excellent.

walk down the beach a quarter mile or less from the Arenas Beach Hotel (and Restaurant) to a much better meal value, with tables really right at the beach, not way back from it. Better food, better prices, and nice quick service. We only ate one meal there, trying to eat each meal over 6 days in a different place, and know nothing about the rooms, but it seemed very quiet, almost as if the hotel was not operating.

We went to the beach and saw the restaurant and decided to order something to drink, but the lady there was so kind and polite and she told us about several options. We decided to order one of the options shw gave us. It was the best we could have ordered. It was well worth it! Loved the food, prices were great and the location is the best!!!

We stayed here for a week, a family of five in one room for $65/night. It's the best beach on the island and absolutely beautiful. It's right next to Las Arenas which was $240/night. It's a little worn in the rooms but the air conditioner was cold, the people friendly and very accomodating. I found the food really good but at American prices (which I expected at a resorty island). They were very kind to our kids and quite honestly, we had a blast.
