This bungalow has around 5 rooms if I'm not mistaken. I reserved 3 rooms. The special feature about the rooms are, they are very spacious and gives you a colonial feeling. Rooms are very comfortable. You can ask for any food you like from the staff. I don't think they have a specialist cook. But the food they prepare is...

We have recently returned from a holiday in Sri Lanka and during our visit we stayed 3 nights at the Strathdon Bungalow which was previously a tea plantation manager's residence. The bungalow is situated on an elivated position overlooking the valley below and mountains all around which are mostly covered in tea bushes, the setting is quite spectacular. The weather was very...

We were not wow'd and I can't say 100% why that is. We had driven very far to get here- I thought it was more in nuwera eliya... which is so wasn't! Lots of incorrect arrows and we found it so so hard to find. Well our driver. Also it's very close to a Hindu temple which played crazy loud...

We booked a de luxe mountain view room costing 156 US plus service and tax. That equates to over £150 and breakfast was extra. What we got was an internal room with window opening onto a hall and no aircon. We arrived after a long drive, hot and sticky. There was no hot water. The service, at least, was ok once they...

We travelled from Kandy by train and met our driver who delivered us to this beautiful bungalow at Dick Oya. Our rooms were huge, comfortable with a lovely bathroom. The staff were so friendly including the chef who came out to greet us every evening. The food was good and dinner shared with other guests always entertaining! The walks around...

We stayed here after lots of trekking and adventure around Sri Lanka. The setting is beautiful, situated high up amongst all the tea plantations. The grounds of the hotel itself were like it's own botanical garden with beautiful plants and colours. Rooms were stunning with big comfortable four posted bed and beautiful bathroom. Lovely little extras such as a sewing...

We stayed at the Mandira Craig Appin Bungalow for a couple of days R&R after I climbed Adam's Peak. It is the most expensive place we've stayed in Sri Lanka and was of a high standard. The service was first class, especially from Chandra who looked after everything and always had a smile on his face. We had a couple...

Where do I begin? I arrived after quite a drive. It was starting to drizzle and the place was a bit secluded, so I was a bit worried, considering I had already paid last night. We drove past these large wooden gate doors and up a sweeping driveway. A gentleman greeted me, smiled, and brought me a hot cup of...

We were in Sri Lanka for 7 days and stayed at 3 hotels. Out of all the hotels Mandira Bungalows was my favourite experience. I absolutely loved the decor of the bungalow and the feeling of staying in a home rather that a big hotel. We had two rooms that were directly across from each other. Each room came with...

We sourced the Mandira Dickoya bungalow though Agoda- but more about this later. The bungalows are a blast from the past - beautifully furnished and presented and straight out of Downton abbey. We had the place to ourselves for the night and it was a fantastic place to recover from Adams Peak. Food was excellent and the staff were attentive...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
As our name suggests our bungalows are of either architectural or historical interest, all offering much of the atmosphere of Sri Lanka’s glorious past. Experience a style of gracious living and soothing relaxation sometimes so scarce in the modern, time pressured ‘civilised’ world. Each bungalow is a haven of peace and tranquility in some wonderfully quiet corners of Sri Lanka. Each is a place where service is founded on instinctive hospitality, where the food is pure delight - and where quality and attention to detail keeps us awake with the desire to serve. ... more   less
