This Surfcamp is just amazing! The camp is super chilled, the beach is only 5 min away, many different surfspots in the area. Lovely staff and managers, that are always super friendly and happy to help you. Dinner and breakfast are super delicious and healthy. I enjoyed my time here so much and will definitely come back next year! Thank you Elsewhere!!

We came here to stay one week but then extended up to two weeks, what it made even more difficult to leave (nearly everybody out of week one extended). The people working there are the most lovely people we met on our trip (securitys, surf teachers, house staff...) . Thanks Sophie for managing this house so well, you are the best ;) The have their private tuktuk service, which makes sure that you always get a safe tuki for a super fair price. The surf lessons are really good, small groups (we were from 2 to 4 students per teacher), amazing teachers! Pauline gave my boyfriend the best massages ever, which he needed desparetly after surfing. We slept in the white house, which gives you more privacy. The white house and the Basecamp are in the middle of local houses and away from big roads, so it's quiet. What would make this place even better : Some Lunch snacks after surfing (you are so hungry) and a pool. We will be back next year ❤ Much love from Germany Meli and Stefan…

We had the best experience here with my mate. We are both advanced surfers and we went surfing every day 2-3 times. It has all the spots around it and very good organisation of transport to get to each spot. Everyone is super friendly and helpful and you end up being a big family with the people working there & guests. They do group activities that you can decide to join or you can also do your own thing. Very good to learn how to surf but also if you are an advanced surfer. I would def be back and I def recommend this camp to everyone, couples, friends, solo travels & everyone who is willing to have a good time, relaxing time, surfing time, party time and all sort of times. You can choose your experience here and they make it happen :)

This is my 2nd time in elsewhere in 1 year (solo traveler). I tried another hostel on my 2nd time to Sri Lanka but missed elsewhere and quickly went back. Location: close to jungle beach and minutes away from Weligama beach Camp is set up in a way where you can socialize and relax. If youre traveling witha friend or Solo this place is the best to be Elsewhere is a chill place to stay, the hosts are really nice and managed to help me easily book a room at elsewhere. It's where I properly learned how to surf. The balance between partying/chilling and surfing is perfect!

I stumbled across the elsewhere website as I was trying to find somewhere to stay in Sri Lanka. It was my first time out there so I wanted to make sure I found the perfect place to stay. Elsewhere was all that and more!! I could not have been happier with my stay. All the staff we’re super hospitable and made my stay one of a kind. The food was absolutely amazing, with a nice variation with different things. My favourite was Princeys dhal and the breakfast spread. The accommodation was super comfy, I had a double bed in the dorm. The room is kept pretty cold, but as it is tropical outside, it’s a nice change! And the staff were happy to give anyone who wanted an extra blanket. I hadn’t surfed before, so I was pretty nervous to start! However, I managed to catch my first green wave after a few tries on my first day. I was over the moon! Thanks to my instructors for being so patient with me. Shout out to Jade the yogi who managed to keep me pain free for the entire week after all the paddling we did. I highly recommend this surf camp to anyone who’s up for some fun in Lanka. It’s affordable, awesome people, amazing food, fun trips out and so much more! DONT LOOK ANY FURTHER!! Just book with this camp, you won’t regret it. Chill place with great staff and surf teachers. You don't feel like a guest, you feel like part of the team. Great surf teachers, bonus shoutout to Charlie. You get help with everything both in and out of the waves. It's organized enough to make sure you have things todo but not too organized so you also have your freedom. The movie room was perfect for those evenings you just want to chill completely after 2 surfs in one day. Don't forget to ask Mr T to play pool. He loves that! 🙂

It's near to impossible for me to verbalise how perfect my stay at Elsewhere Surf Camps was, however given this is a review website I will attempt to. The camp is located within literal minutes from the charming 'Jungle Beach' as well as the main Welligama strip. The camp itself is run by a team of genuinely lovely people, who despite the myriad of surf lessons and trips they're planning/hosting, are at all times unbelievably helpful and friendly. As a solo traveller, I really appreciated how easy the airport pick up and check in was. (thanks Sophie!) My dorm room was clean, comfy and air-conditioned. Our days started with surf lessons from the incredibly patient and hilarious Charlie, Anju and Ashan. Who managed to teach me - a painfully unathletic person - to surf in a mere 2 weeks. Healthy and tasty breakfast and lunches were prepared by the wonderful Sanu and Princey. Afternoons were spent either exploring the nearby towns of Marissa or Gaul (all arranged by the sweet Mr T) or chilling with the numerous beautiful people that are drawn to this place, in addition to the well-needed energising Yoga sessions led by their resident Yogi Jade. Overall, I have to say that if you are planning to visit Sri Lanka, this has to be top of your list. The positive energy at Elsewhere is magnetic and truly special, even if you somehow never managed to venture outside the premises you would still have an unforgettable trip and meet amazing people.…

Second year in a row the best trip I’ve ever had. The staff is so friendly. They make sure every guest is enjoying their stay and if there’s a problem they’ll fix it. The doorm rooms make you feel like you’re back at your favourite youth summer camp and if you prefer a bit more luxury they’ll have it for you too with their private rooms (which I chose to stay in this year). A++ Been surfing for 2 years now and most of the process I’ve made has been here thanks to the awesome instructors -Thank you Charlie-. Plenty of partying and activities beside surfing for those who want it. If you don’t mind giving away some privacy take a room from the main camp and you’ll never be boored. If you've ever been to a summer camp as a teenager, where you had fun, did sports, and made friends, and you liked it - Elsewhere has that experience for you, and now you choose what to do or not do, all up to you! It was our second surf experience after a few lessons at another place a year ago. We began searching for a place about 1.5 months in advance, and all we came across were pictures of perfectionist retreat-like sites or people with surf boards, until I ran into Elsewhere's photos with not just surfers but happy people hanging out together, and that was exactly what we wanted! The reality turned our way better than that, and we fell in love with the place, and its spirit: the people, the vibe, the food, the dogs... The first thing we felt at Elsewhere was care. These guys cared about us from the moment we arrived till... I don't know... I have a feeling they still do, even though we left five days ago. And 'these guys' are both staff and guests :) Moreover, the more we got to know Elsewhere, the more we realized how much they care about each other, the local community, and the environment - and that does make a lot of difference! The surf lessons were tailored to all the different skill levels of guests, and we never lacked attention, be it theory or practice. The camp is located minutes away form many decent breaks, and if we hadn't had enough surf with the instructors in the morning, we could always grab boards and other guests for a sunset session. The transportation was always available, and not just for surfing but any other needs, too. Complimenting the surf lessons, yoga sessions and massage were always there to help us stay in good physical shape. Another thing that made our holiday great were the parties. I can't remember how many we had during our 2.5 week stay but we never lacked entertainment, whether it was just a loud ping pong play with ten people at the table, or a night out at a local bar or a somewhat distant restaurant. In any case, for whatever activity (or inactivity, if you're tired), there always are options available, and the Elsewhere team is always there to make sure you make choice you're gonna be happy with. At Elsewhere, we've had one of our best vacations ever, with the most diverse and caring group of people we've ever been with, and that's worth a lot! We're definitely coming back!…
