Honestly the worst hotel experience of my life. To start, they force me to pay much higher price than I booked online because apparently that was the “dollar price” not the local price. They then pretended like they were giving me a free upgrade to an air conditioned room (even though I booked that anyway). The room was like a prison cell with no light, bars on the window (you literally can’t see out). The WiFi would not work at all in my room; they said they would fix but never did. There were also frequent power cuts. In the end I decided to leave early and asked if they could refund me for the nights I have yet to stay. They refused. I don’t like leaving negative reviews but in this case I think it’s justified so others don’t make my mistake.

My partner and I stayed here in January 2020, and the hotel was not up to our expectations. We supposedly had an upgrade.....but it felt like a downgrade. The room was dark, and the decor dismal, and the bed linen poor quality. The floors which are "polished" concrete felt dirty and grungy in the bedroom and the bathroom. Wifi was not possible in our room.....you need to walk out into the hallway. Our worst hotel in Sri Lanka, and we were there for 10 weeks. Otherwise the location is great, and it is good value if you get a good room. Did not need the pool as the beach was just across the road. The points I mentioned can be put right easily if somebody was to make an effort!! I wished we had paid a little more and booked a hotel on the beach.......you are only here once!…

We stayed for 2 weeks in Ocean Bay Resort because it was good price for the quality we expected! Our room was perfect paradise with view on the swimming pool ... The owner Widu is on top !! Always so smiling, concerning for the best journey of his customers, his crew of guys is so helpful and professional. It feels we had best confort and service but as it was home! Close from the beach and the city center, I recommand it highly!! Thank You Widu!!

We arrived late at this hotel but were met with glass of fresh fruit juice. That set the tone for our stay! We stayed for two weeks, and it felt like home from home. Nothing was too much trouble for Widu and his helpful, friendly staff. We had two meals at the hotel and what an experience! If you stay here eat in at least once, you will not be disappointed! The hotel location is first class, a matter of two minutes from the excellent bech and loads of eating places.Whats not to like? If you are visiting Weligama, stay here. Its simple!!
