Basic room but not very clean. Manager had ‘forgotten’ booking. Luckily, we had a Lao guide with us who translated and sorted situation. Next day, through translation with guide, the manager wanted us to pay again before checking out. Had to phone and email booking agent who sorted it with manager. The experience marred the stay in this area. No apology or acknowledgement of mix up from hotel owner. Glad to leave.
We stayed during low season so was pretty quiet. A nice place very cheap. For your £9 you get a big double room and bathroom and free tea coffee and water refills. It was clean and basic and while the WiFi was spotty it was fine for a base for a night to explore the plain of jars from. A bonus was being able to check into our room at 5am when we arrived from the bus station. No air con but the fan kept us nice and cool and free mini water bottles and soap. All good tbh
Phonsavanh is not a place to stay eternally so for 1/2 nights the accomodation does not have to be special. And this is what Namchai GH serves. We had a nice and clean room with a good bathroom and bed. The WiFi does not work in the rooms so you have to go to the ground floor for going online. The owner offers a pick-up service which is nice and offers to boom some tours. Staff helps if help is needed and you can fill up your water bottles or drink coffee all day. Recommended for a short stay on the small town!
Was surprised and pleased to be collected from the minibus station (it was only across the road but I hadn't expected that). Room was large, comfortable and had aircon, though that was not needed. Bathroom was small but adequate and clean. Shower wasn't too hot. No breakfast available but there was wifi. About 60m from the main street for restaurants and travel "agencies". Took the Plain of Jars tour from hotel which was expensive as I was on my own but had an excellent driver/guide. Shop around for that.
Strategy location, near to minivan station which located inside market, bus depart to Vientiane also can started from here. MAG & UXO within 100m. Owner are friendly. Water dispenser place outside 1st building, with coffee and hot water, accessible plug point (very helpful if you leaving at night), 1unit toilet outside building. Room are big and clean, but sound proof are poor. Hot water is working fine, but the weather just too cool (sometime), cold inside this unseal room.
