We booked the hotel as part of a Moroccan trip. This is a great place for doing hikes in the high Atlas. It has a real authentic feel to it. The rooms are cool without air conditioning, because the building is constructed with traditional building techniques. The food is excellent. You can rent guides with mules for doing local hikes.

Ait Bougmez is one of the most beautiful and unspoiled areas in Morocco, and Dar Itrane is the only proper hotel in the valley. You won't find 5 star luxury, but you will find comfort, cleanliness, and above all 5 star hospitality and ambience, as well as excellent food (though it is true the coffee is not great!). Some of...

Accessibility Access to Dar Itrane is via paved but challenging mountain roads - many hair pin bends, narrow, steep drops. Adjacent parking. High door sill. Some ground floor rooms. No lift, steep stairs Services/Activities Dar Itrane is a venue primarily for trekkers which could also suit keen photographers, birdwatchers and those just wishing for a remote place to stay. If...

We stayed here for two nights in two comfortable rooms (our family includes 2 teenage boys). As we approached the lodge we were anxious about the setting, on a hill alongside the familiar mud-brick homes of the region. This french-owned lodge is large and sprawling, with inviting public spaces and comfortable breakfast tables. The staff were reasonably friendly on arrival...

We checked into a room with zero charm or cosiness that was, on top of everything else, freezing cold. Since there was a hotel-brochure in the room stating that one could ask for a heater for the room, we immediately did that and heard to our surprise that our request was refused because no other guests had complained about the...

The location is stunning. Don't be fooled by the address - it's almost two hours drive from Azilal and right in the heart of the beautiful Ait Bougmez valley in the high atlas mountains. The staff are really friendly and welcoming and Seline went out of her way to make sure we had a great stay. We were lucky enough...

The High Atlas Mountains were nice. During check in we were offered mint tea, which was good. Whet on a walk, played soccer with some of the local teenagers. Cool experience. This place can not be called a hotel, it's more like a scaled down dude ranch, without the associated services. No AC, limit in the service, dinner was late....

The building is nice and interesting and the staff gave us a good contact of a guide in the zone wich was a nice company for us in one of our trekkings but I think that because of the high price, they had to be much more careful with details; If rooms were not so austere and common rooms more...

Dar Itrane is a gem of a lodge. The valley, village and mountains are the main event, so Dar Itrane just has to provide a comfortable bed and good food to make it work. Food is good; breakfast the usual crepes, yogurt, cheese, etc etc. Dinner with a salad or soup and plentiful servings of vegetables with lamb in various...

If you like the prospect of staying in a cold, damp, spartan, almost windowless cave with surly staff then this is for you. Overall, we felt a bit cheated. Although the valley is stunning, the one tiny window in the room looked out over a gloomy courtyard, so we couldn't enjoy the view unless outside. The room was bitterly cold...
