Lower Pines is on the Valley floor and you can walk to Yosemite Village. It's about a 30 minute walk depending on how fast you walk or you can take the Yosemite Bus loop there.

Temp at the end of May, Beautiful in the daytime, cool at night. Really is great camping weather. If you have a good sleeping bag. Beside May is a perfect time to visit the park. Lots of flowers, even more water. I won't plan on any River adventures. water is way too strong and cold at that time of year.
