I saw the pictures online and thought it looked great so I booked 2 nights. Those pictures must of been taken when the camp was first built because that’s not what’s there now! I booked a river front location, the site was no where near the river. Their explanation is that any site facing the river is considered river front (even though you can’t even see the river from the site). The site itself was just nasty! There was a condom on the floor, someone’s socks under the bed, layers of filth and dirt. The unit looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in years. The fire pit was full of ash, I had to beg to have someone come out and clean it. The unit itself has a shared wall, so that means there is another group of campers directly behind you. How fun it was to hear their loud talking, swearing, laughing, and music all night! This place is one step above refugee camp - don’t be fooled by the pictures! It’s very crowded during the summer months, people and cars everywhere. If you do go, bring your own cleaning supplies, disinfectant, sheets, and ear plugs.

We weren't sold on the actual camp when we booked it, but we were sold on the location. We ended up loving it! We flew to California, and checked a duffel bag with just enough to keep the camp comfy, including a string of lights, a table cloth, and bed linens. We also purchased an inexpensive cooler after we rented a car. Anyone driving could take even more/better decor and food options. The bathrooms were not the cleanest (especially the showers) but we had shower shoes and made due. We walked everywhere from here (adding a few miles to each of our hikes) and we will definitely be back!

We wanted to camp but were coming by plane, so Housekeeping Camp seemed a good compromise, and it was. Price was decent too. We were not prepared for a completely full campground though on our arrival Saturday night. It was like an amusement park - boom boxes, disco lights, barking dogs, screaming kids on bikes racing through our site, car alarms, clanging metal bear boxes, etc. The layers of dirt and debris under my bed were amazing and made it clear it had not been swept since the beginning of the season 6 months ago. Not once. The canvas door hung on by threads and was dirty and ripped. No hooks in the cabins or in the bathhouse. We were glad we brought Clorox wipes and wish we had brought a string on Christmas lights for outside (to join the disco gang). All that said, the price and location were right, and once the crowds sort of left on Sunday, it was somewhat quieter. Bring ear plugs. We hadn't known what to expect and once we got used to it and accepted it, it was fine. It was camping with lots of close strangers. Not exactly the peaceful quiet we usually seek outdoors but hey, it's Yosemite! We made the best of it. TIP: find free firewood all over the park and load up your trunk. No need to pay $12 for a box of wood when you're already in the forest!

Housekeeping camp has a great location. It is also good you can make your own bonfire. But I find the place very dirty and the restrooms were really horrible. This wouldn’t have bothered me if the price had been decent. It is crazy overpriced, and they can naturally do it because so many of us want to go to Yosemite. At Housekeeping you are close to nature. Still, in the evenings it was so noisy by people partying that I wondered if I was is a beautiful national park or in a pub home in San Francisco. Yosemite does not have many options for places to stay. So if this is your opinion, I would recommend to book the place. You are really in the middle of the beauty of Yosemite.
