We stayed in this hotel for one night while travelling through Ohio in December with our family of 4. We really enjoyed our stay even though it is an old hotel and could use some upgrading, we appreciated the history, and were given historical information from the front desk ( you have to ask for it - when we walked to the square and had a drink the bartender told us to, and let us know to look at the Hall of Mirrors where JFK attended a function. It was an absolutely beautiful room!) The Christmas decorations were so beautiful as is the entire lobby of the hotel. We had trouble getting hot water in the bathroom but our 2 queen bed room was huge and comfortable. I would recommend staying at this hotel for the historic beauty of it alone!
Stayed at the Hilton a couple of weeks ago and had an amazing experience! We had a very rough day of travel and Monique who greeted us at the front desk and checked us into our room helped turn our day from a really bad one to a good one. Her dinner recommendations were spot on and just her knowledge of the hotel and the city were incredible. Room was clean, was a nice sized room, and had a great view! Hotel was close to so much in the area! We had breakfast at the restaurant the next morning and while not buffet giving the times it was very good. The overall beauty of the hotel was phenomenal and that every single staff member of the hotel was so approachable and helpful ensures we will stay again! Only suggestion would be to have better signage for the parking garage that is for the Hilton.…
Location: Walkable to a lot of restaurants and attractions Service: Efficient with requests Staff: Accommodating Cons: Supposed to be nice historic hotel but overall atmosphere and ambiance is poor. Inside feels old, looks dusty and forgotten. The elegant appeal is not there when carpets and fixtures are worn out & dirty.
For a Hilton and 4 star hotel this was not good. Lobby looked nice when you finally get to it. The entry ways and stairs to lobby was dirty, smelt awful, and had people scavenging in and out. A big thing is the parking situation. I booked the room, then further Googled the area of the hotel. I called to confirm reservation as well as ask about parking. They said they provide basic parking in a garage and then they offer Valet which costs. They never once made it seem like parking had to be paid for other than valet. To park, it costs $30 a night but when I went to leave after my second night I was charged an additional $40 to leave. Horrible. The room, it was awful. Extremely small, refrigerator didn’t work, and that’s all it came with. No microwave, and the tv was one of the first ever small flat screens made. Very out of date. Not even 720p. The paint in the room was done very unprofessionally and was old, peeling and cracking. Every single window I seen in the building was filthy, inside and not just outside. Walls was extremely thin. Carpet on our floor was stained and old and not cleaned more than vacuuming sometimes. Late at night, went to my car and there was people sleeping in the elevator areas of the parking garage, and all the parking garage elevators and hotel elevators reeked of foul human body odor and pee. Overall, for a HILTON hotel that is suppose to be so highly rated, it was a slum. The restaurant looked fancy but didn’t partake after seeking the menu. I don’t recommend this at all. From the staff not being clear about parking and the stay. Also, the bed in the tiny room was suppose to be a queen and it was only a full size. Can’t say enough how horrible this experience and this place was.…
This is truly a beautiful hotel with so much character and potential to be a great place. It is just managed horribly. We stayed the night of a Bengals game. When we arrived, the line to check in was 30+ deep and wrapped around the lobby. I am Hilton Diamond member and had a digital key on my phone so this was not an issue for me, but was foreshadowing of things to come. After we got to our room, we wanted to go check out the fitness facility. So I called the front desk and guest services. No answer after multiple attempts. So, we went down the lobby and asked someone and found out where to go,. The fitness facility was very nice. It's a Snap Fitness, which shares access with the Netherland plaza guests. We returned from the Bengals Game around midnight. At that point, the line for the elevator was wrapped around the lobbys, similar to line for check in earlier in the day. The hotel had no plan and did not handle this situation well at all. They refused to let people take the stairs up to rooms, which caused more of a log jam. We ended up waiting 45 minutes to get up to our room. As it was almost 1:00 AM, I figured I'd call the front desk and request a late checkout. I called the front desk and again no answer. I tried several times I ending up calling the main Hilton number on my cell phone and they finally connected me. I explained I was Diamond member and that we had just waited 45 minutes to get up to our room. The late checkout was denied. I asked to speak to a manager and the gentleman indicated he was a manager but could not grant a late checkout. After again explaining the situation, he still refused. We checked out at 10:45 and then I received my bill through email, which was incorrect. They overcharged me $30. I called and they did correct it over the phone. Again, this is beautiful place with so much character. We were happy with our accommodations and the amenities of the hotel. With that said, the customer service was just terrible. There was no planning for the crowd that was there and they made no effort to fix it. …
Recently stayed at this beautiful historic hotel to attend a Bengals game with friends. The lobby is breathtaking. I believe it’s Art Deco 🤷♀️ very 1920’s vibe. Check In was easy. We stayed in a king suit which had a separate bedroom/ bathroom and a living space with a couch, chair, desk, and it’s own bathroom. I believe the couch may have been a pullout as well. Both bathrooms had toiletries and full size blow dryer. There was an iron and ironing board in the hall closet and I believe you could request a garment steamer as well. The overall room itself was sufficient but not A+++ but the hotel is very old,so I think there is really only so much you can do. The pipes can be loud but this didn’t bug me as I sleep with ear plugs anyway. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. We especially enjoyed Kelly the bellman/doorman (?) such a friendly guy with a million dollar smile. Would definitely stay here again.…
Hilton and this hotel have issues; not worth it for the money. - This hotel rarely answers phone; had bad service at bar (we tried to be very nice and also tipped 30% anyway as it was New Year's Day) - server never came back to bar table and made it obvious he didn't want to be there. Only contact we had after drink/food dropped off was multiple people trying to clear our dishes when I wasn't finished eating. Good thing we aren't big drinkers/only wanted 1 drink because we would have had to go up to bar ourselves to get more. - Tried to modify my original reservation to get AARP rate, online page not working, called hotel who assured me they changed it, but it was not, stopped by desk before checking out of hotel and told them about it - they took AARP #, but nothing changed. Tried to call hotel back - no luck as usual, called Hilton 1-800 # and they said they can do absolutely nothing after checkout. - Despite getting texts regarding downloading Hilton App to check-in early/ be able to choose your room. App did not work - would not take my Hilton Honors # just assigned! …
We are Hilton diamond members so thought we would try this property for the Buffalo Bills/Bengals game . It was very interesting when we walked in. Felt like we were walking back into the 1930's. Unfortunately the allure wore off when we entered our room and saw it hadn't been dusted in a long time or looked like it had been vacuumed since the 1930s! LOL. There was a lot of hair in the bathtub and basically over all skeevy. We notified the front desk and housekeeping came several hours later but did a mediocre job unfortunately. I will say the staff was very pleasant.
From arrival to departure, hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating. The property is very old and needs major renovations. Bathroom had maintenance issues, kitchen out of order so it was closed and there is water from busted pipes all around the building. There’s an “old” and dirty smell about this property. Time for a major renovation.
The hotel was located in a perfect place downtown and near restaurants and an art museum. The first two days were perfect. Very quiet and tranquil. My last night was a Friday and it got louder due to the additional wedding guests for various events. All in all. Good place.
