We don't typically stay at a B&B - but the southern charm of the Bell Drew is in - as the train whistle blows at 7 as I write - LOL. The house is fabulous and yes old and yes tired. From the sign out front it is for sale - things change. But we sincerely enjoyed Rosa Lee and... More

The aging B & B is beautiful, but the Southern Hospitality was lacking. We arrived and were met by the owner; he was cordial and gave us a quick tour of the house. There was no attempt at suggesting places to see or where to eat. I have to agree with 332marielouise that the owners are not engaged in the... More

The house is beautiful but have the feeling the owners might nog be fully committed to the B&B anymore. The house needs to be painted, some curtains were torn, the airco made a lot of noise, the bed was awful... Although the owner was there when we arrived we didn't see him anymore afterwards. Our son loved the house, the... More

This is a lovely antebellum home that has been well maintained. RosaLee does everything she can to make your stay comfortable, fun and informative. We stayed in the Josephine room, large and comfortable. The train is close-by. We did not find it an issue. Stay here if you can.

During a trip through the Southern states, we stayed at Ahern Belle of the Bends for a night. This was definitely an experience to remember! The warm welcome by Rosa Lee, and her hospitality and stories made us feel like we were really going back in time. We could feel the history of the house. A beautiful room, magnificent views,... We stayed in the Josephine room upstairs and it was grand. Reading about the history of the house in the folder provided made it feel as though we had stepped back in time, but there were all the usual modern amenities that come with modern hotels--WiFi, TV with DVD player, alarm clocks, etc. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom... This B&B offers a trip back to the past - the house still has the glamour of the 19th century surrounded by a nice garden with plenty of flowering Camelia bushes. The rooms inside are really spacious and decorated with furnitures of the late 19th to early 20th century. The drawbacks are that all has seen better times and most... More

We had a wonderful time, and we loved Rosa Lee; she created fantastic southern breakfasts, superb hospitality. Everything was nice & clean. Beautiful house with high ceilings, ornate woodwork around every door and window, unique crown molding. The carpet on the stairway is the same pattern of that on the Titanic.

Our room was nice, but if you have heavy suitcases and haven't had dinner before you arrive, you will be sorely disappointed. We had been traveling quite a lot and had big suitcases with us. The house is old and does not have an elevator or anyone to help you with your bags. The owner was out of town when... More

Our first experience in a B&B The home, antiques, architectural details more than met our expectations. The Josephine room where we stayed was the original master bedroom. The hostess, Rosalee, makes you feel at home. She takes pride in explaining the historical facts about the home. Her knowledge makes you appreciate the outstanding craftsmanship that makes Ahern a delightful place... More
