I thought this hotel was a great place right in the heart of Waikiki Beach. Across from the Beach, Duke's and the Surfrider Moana restaurant. Great pool and bar area and plenty of activities. Also got a room with a balcony and a great view to see the surfers on Waikiki Beach and see Honolulu fully lit up at night.

The hotel has lovely grounds and a dellightful staff. Have been to several hotels during the pandemic but this was the first that had attentive housekeeping. Sheets and towels were replaced daily and the room was thoroughly cleaned. The reason I couldn't give it 5 stars was because of the room. It was dated and small. I booked a high floor ocean view in the Ainahau Tower expecting a larger room but found otherwise. Also the walls must have been quite thin as I could hear the people in the adjcent room. Not sure I would return.

I am a Titanium Elite Marriott Member and was a long-time local Marriott Waikiki Beach Hotel visitor; but when they closed due to the Pandemic, we moved over to the Princess Kaiulani, not expecting much since it is an older hotel. However, since starting to go there in early 2020, we have gone almost once every month if possible for a great staycation, and happy that I was able to get upgrades, early and late check-outs which was sketchy at best at the other place and my benefits are still honored even as the hotel gets busier. Granted, it’s not as modern and updated, but the hotel has its quaint charm and is centrally located in Waikiki, making everything very accessible, and you could save a lot of money for other things. Accessing our rooms on the Ainahau tower is so much easier as you can go from the parking lot elevator straight to the floor your room is on, unlike the massive Waikiki Beach which requires 2 elevator trips and a walk halfway around the hotel. The rooms are always clean and the staff is very friendly. There is a good-sized pool with an ample amount of seating for sunbathers and tables for people wanting to service with food from the snack bar that serves from morning to night. Elite members are offered a choice of a continental breakfast coupon for 2 or 1,000 points. They also have an exercise room we haven't tried because we prefer walking around the area. I think the mattresses are a bit too soft but hubby thinks it’s fine. One word of caution on self-parking during busy holidays. Their lot is shared with the Moana Surfrider and you will be redirected to the Sheraton Waikiki for parking if the PK lot is full. The hotel was basically empty early on and we wanted to do our small part to help out our tourism industry. However, it turned out that we enjoyed this smaller hotel, as it maintained a veteran staff of friendly, local staff who did their part to welcome us and make our staycations a regular fixture on our calendar. A special thanks to Celeste, who makes it her goal to assist each and every guest she meets. We are extremely grateful for her invaluable and caring help in assisting us from making our reservations, to check in, to making sure all of our needs were met for each stay. At one point, our request for a microwave was not able to be fulfilled due to the overwhelming number of requests, which we were fine with as we knew it was based on availability). Celeste went the extra mile the next day to bring her own extra personal microwave for us! Talk about going above and beyond! All of the team members from the managers to the front office team are very caring and friendly. It is because of this great customer service we have made the Princess Kaiulani hotel our go-to staycation hotel now for over 1 ½ years with more stays to come and know you’ll enjoy it too! Take it from a local!

We had a great time in Oahu, and this hotel is in the heart of Waikiki, and was extremely convenient in several ways. It is right behind the much more expensive Moana Surfrider, which we considered. Ultimately, we decided against it to save a grand, and went with the Princess Kaiulani, and I’m glad we did. When we travel, we don’t wind up at the hotel for large periods of time. We aren’t in need of oceanfront views, or lots of amenities for this reason. We are just not there to enjoy them or use them, so why spend money on them? True to form, we basically just slept there, and used the pool to kill time between activities and reserved dinners. We did pay a little extra for a pool view (other reviewers reported it was quieter on this side), but our room had a small view of the ocean, which was an unexpected but welcomed treat! The room was spacious, with comfy beds. That could be because we spent hours hiking or sitting in the sun, or both, so we crashed every night. They gave us two bottles of water every day, and coffee. They also supply shampoo/conditioner/soap and lotion. There is a fridge in the room, but no microwave. You get pool/beach towels. You are given pool cards at the beginning of the stay, which you give for fresh towels. You can exchange dirty towels for fresh ones, or get your cards back. It’s a nice, easy system. One thing to note, which I wish I had known ahead of time, or told at check in, but didn’t know until like our 4th day because I overheard another guest asking for one, is that if you are a Marriot/Bonvoy member (which I am) you can rent a beach chair for free the entirety of your stay! If you aren’t a member, then I think it’s a nominal charge. There is an ABC store right in front of the main entrance, and then another near the pool entrance, which is incredibly convenient to stock up on drinks/sunscreen/food… just about anything you need. The ABC stores here are much fancier than the ABC stores where I’m from. Lots of dining options near the hotel, and beach access will literally take you 5 minutes from the time you leave your room. So easy. The only real con here, and it’s not the hotel’s fault, is that on some nights street performers set up shop in front of the ABC store near the pool. It can get pretty loud, but not a real issue since we were pretty exhausted by the end of the night. To be fair though, due to jet lag, for the first couple of nights we went to bed at like 9pm, so it’s not an entirely obscene hour to be playing music. Couldn’t tell you what time they stopped playing cause we were out like lights. Would absolutely stay here again. We had a great stay.

I loved staying at this hotel. It was extremely clean as I even saw hotel staff going around the lobby sanitizing all the shelves/decor/computer area. The rooms were also clean and comfortable though they were a little on the smaller size. We had a view of the pool with a nice balcony to sit out on. You could also see a small view of the ocean. This hotel was also very close to the beach. It was one street away and a small walk to it. The area is also extremely safe and I would recommend this hotel to anyone. The only negative to it is the food and drinks are extremely expensive so we never ate there. Who pays $29 for pancakes?
