We had to stay an extra night due to a flight cancellation. I had to book the morning of the stay and used Marriott points. I had just achieved Platinum level with a stay on the North Shore. We arrived within the hour of making the reservation about 11:00 AM, well before the usual check in time. The desk staff not only got us a room but upgraded us to the tower, ocean front room. We simply had to show our travel Hawaii registration on check in and didn't have any problems. We were to our room in minutes and the bags arrived before we could even open the balcony door. The room has a very private balcony with two chairs and a small table. We were able to do a take out dinner from the restaurant downstairs that night and have outdoor socially distanced dining with my son. The staff in the restaurant were so accommodating with providing real silverware and cloth napkins for our take out meal. We were given a coupon for free morning breakfast. This covered $15 each for 2 people. The eggs benedict was wonderful with really lovely hollandaise sauce. We were seated near the beach side of the patio. The staff went overboard with going next door to get my husband's latte. The hotel's latte machine wasn't working and they were able to accommodate him. The room was lovely with a very comfortable king size bed. The bath is on the small side but has a neat bidet feature with a remote control on the commode. The shower has a tall shower head and a hand held wand that is really convenient. We had a red eye flight the next day and the hotel allowed us to have a 4 PM check out. This allowed a full day of exploring the beach and to have a nice walk down past the aquarium, some shopping, and a lovely afternoon nap before leaving.

We were planning on staying at the Moana Surfrider for one night at the end of a week-long trip. As soon as we walked through the lobby to the pool/beach area, we knew we had to spend more time there. After talking with "Old Lee" at the towel station, we decided to spend 2 more nights. He and Gloria set us up in a cabana and made sure we had everything we needed. Luckily we did because the next day my daughter (17) had a spontaneous collapsed lung. (She was just lying in bed doing her school zoom. We learned it's hereditary. SOO thankful we didn't get on a plane that day!). Anyways the management and staff had been and continued to be over and above with helping in any way the could. We ended up staying 9 nights and every day the staff impressed us more. I just want to send a shout out to Mike Czarcinski GM, Kyle Anger Director of Reception, Taka Front Dest Management, Nancy and Sherri from the snack bar, Hayes from the pool wait staff, "Old Lee", Gloria, "Young Lee" and Hulai from the towel station, Eric, Jarret and Tony from Security and the bell/valet staff. We so appreciate you and we will definitely be back! I would recommend this hotel to everyone!

Gorgeous southern plantation styled hotel with rocking chairs, eloquent lobby, stunning sunsets at the beach bar, breakfast on the outdoor veranda, live horn band gently plays through breakfast and lunch. Wonderful singers play till sunset.. great songs everyone knows. This place is amazing. Great Gym, pool, beach bar: Harry .. best bartender ever. Ryan, Kyle, Winnie, Stephen, Bryon...housekeeping.. they make this your home away from home. Kind, gentle, relaxed.. a refreshing time after such a tough year. Wonderful hotel. For the whole family. Everyone is happy here. And what a lobby! Right on the beach.

We got a smoking deal on the Westin Surfrider due to COVID and so we were fortunate to stay at this lovely hotel. Here are the highlights: Location: The location is perfect in the heart of Waikiki with a gorgeous beach and tons of restaurants nearby. Beach: Is clean and gorgeous. You have to rent the beach chairs and umbrella from the Westin if you want to utilize them. There are locals and people from other hotels that fill the beach behind the Westin and it can get crowded. Pool: Is a little small for a hotel this size and isn't super kid friendly. If you travel with kids, I recommend the Sheraton as the pool is better for kids. This pool is smaller and was pretty cold this time of year. No one really went in it. Rooms: We stayed in the tower with a city and water view. It was very spacious. But I will say these rooms are going to need an upgrade in the next couple of years. They aren't really dated yet, but it's coming with the older granite and tile colors that exist. Still it was comfortable and the bed was nice. Other: The restaurants were open.. that was a plus. Everything is pricey like what you would imagine at a resort and menus were limited due to COVID but the food was good and drinks were plentiful. The lobby area is gorgeous and the outside rocking chairs are so nice. There was hand sanitizer everywhere and masks are required in any common area. There was live music during sunset. We will definitely stay here again.

So Yes at check in they did ask us to pull up the page for where the QR code is for Covid approval because the hotel does not have the ability to read the QR code and they need to type in the actual numbers. That was the only glitch in our amazing vacation. In fact this trip ranks up there with one of our all time best. The Ocean view room in the tower was spectacular. The staff has been downsized due to Covid, but the people working now are the best of the best. Patrick was amazing at night in the Restaurant and was a joy to converse with. Kat was taking care of our small party group at SUperbowl and she had us all in stiches. Hayes helped us out everyday at the pool with drinks, food etc and we looked forward to seeing her. Tyler the Food and Beverage manager was amazing and stopped bye our table and walked around and talked to everyone and picked up etc as he went. It was quite clear the staff was so happy to be back to work. The facility was spotless. The beaches amazing and in general everyone we came across was happy to have vacationers back. If you can make the time and are able to do so within your covid travel rules, I would highly recommend this location and this spot. Not sure I will ever see Waikiki like this again so I am so happy that I did and that we stayed at the Moana Surfrider.
