The staff were very accommodating, pleasant and helpful. They switched my room and extended my stay. The location is convenient for highways, Chinatown, Ala Moana and Waikiki. Having 2 restaurants adjacent to the hotel is also a plus, one Korean and one with fusion food and breakfast. The Korean restaurant was my favorite. I stayed in a room with a kitchenette and was able to prepare meals. I would stay here again.
cringe, worthy moldy smell I am a local resident and stay there for New Year’s eve All hotels charged literally double four this night, I had to work next day and leave her other side of the island . Reviews of this hotel were mixed but the website looked very nice, and I heard it was recently renovated Check in to create a long time, as only one person was at the register . So about 25 minutes with 2 ppl in line in front. employers at the check in very nice Cards required to go up on the elevator did not work on one of them create an alone weight. The room on the 12th floor was deluxe room, it did look like it was recently renovated, painted , bathroom, very clean, but the smell on the floor was horrid of the moldy old building It did continue into the room The air conditioner spew moldy air with regularity and had mold visible. And my Cityview deluxe room has the view of the building site The window in this deluxe room was unbelievably dirty The grounds supposedly of the garden was koi ponds contain a lot of do not enter signs Overall, it was very expensive -$315 with all the fees Parking was additional $25 I absolutely do not recommend this hotel.…
We stayed at this hotel primarily bc of it's location - it is literally next door to a family member who we were visiting. While the rooms have seen better days, this is a fine place to stay and great value, particularly if you're staying a week or more. Highlights: terrific central location that is both quiet and convenient, great $5 breakfast deal for guests, free unlimited DVDs for in-room entertainment, nice TV, welcoming lobby and check-in. I never did quite get the hang of using the key cards in the elevator (and probably wasted a few minutes of my life struggling in an elevator), but that's a small price to pay for a perfectly pleasant (and secure!) place to stay. A word of warning (not to criticize the hotel but for potential guests to set their expectations): you will see roach traps and maybe even a roach (i saw one in the bathroom 1 night out of 5). This is nearly inevitable in Hawaii even at the nicest buildings on the islands, but I'd encourage more understanding and less freaking out. Would definitely stay here again.…
I canceled my booking a minute after I booked it, then rebooked it on the correct date. After I stayed there, I found I didn't get a refund for the canceled date, which is the booking of the later day of my stay and the manager refused to refund me. The hotel is also old and poor but charged a high price, the only good thing is the location, but you can have better options within that price range.
I stayed at this hotel for the first time in 2006. I enjoyed that stay so when I was passing through Honolulu again, chose it again. The hotel is tired. It looks to have had no money spent on its upkeep in 16 years let alone any renovations. Safe in the room didn't work, and the air conditioner while working is so loud it was like sleeping next to a freeway. Breakfast is no longer in the floating restaurant and the food choices are poor. If it was included in the hotel fee not an issue, but you have to pay extra for it. The hotel desperately needs some money spent on it to make it worth the nightly rate being charged. On the plus side, the staff are super friendly and the location is excellent.
So convenient for a person that enjoys walking. The staff were very approachable and kind, as well as accommodating. Loved seeing the hundreds of beautiful koi and the front desk will even provide a packet of fish treats for them. The koi really appreciate this free perk. Great shopping is within a mile radius, and ranges from high end rack shopping to treasure hunting at the Salvation Army Thrift store. Breakfast was an unexpected surprise, costing only $5. My ham omelet came with steamed bok choy, toast, and coffee, and all for $5. There was lighter and heavier choices and was a full start to the day. Meeting young travelers from Germany and hearing of their exploring was fun. The Pagoda is far from a swanky/snobby hotel and a refreshing step in time when staff actually engage with the customer. I enjoyed meeting, the maid, waitress, front desk staff, security personnel, and koi pond maintenance person; they all made eye contact and shared the beautiful spirit of aloha. I even got to play in the pool with a young soul, who was enjoying the day (no electronics involved). I had a great stay and although traveling by myself, never felt alone. Mahalo Pagoda Staff and fellow travelers.…
Friendly, helpful employees. Convenient to many stores great for shopping, and restaurants to dine within walking distance. Rooms are complete with fridge, microwave, toaster and coffee maker. Stay here every time I come to visit the islands.
Nothing in the pictures matched the rooms. Smelled bad, very weird set up. Charged for amenities and services but no service or nothing. Big crowd hung outside the hotel all morning, nothing was done by hotel staff, parkings are always blocked off by cones by other customers. I would never send anyone I know here.
It was pretty great everything was clean we got and everything everything was close to everything and we had a really good time the only thing is that the cards it didn’t works really well but other than that the Hotel was great Great people great service
We are backpackers, but since the campgrounds are closed on Wednesday and Thursday we were a little obliged to find another solution. This hotel was the most okay and cheapest, although it is s rather expensive if you compare it to other hotels in other locations (probably pricey due to its location). Old rooms, they are clean but still a rather odd smell. There is mostly only one or two people at the front desk what is much to little for the amount of people waiting to be helped. Not an overall bad experience but definitely not a second time for us.
