Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The checkin line is very long and priority is given to those who have stayed at Hiltons in the past. Unfortunately one day after checking in I tested positive for Covid at the onsite clinic. I was told that I had to quarantine for 5 days. So I had to cancel my Cruise and rebook a room for 4 more days. When I spoke to the front desk and explained why I needed the room, I was quickly told that the entire hotel was booked and to go elsewhere. Back at the room I went online and easily found rooms available and booked a reservation. I did a precheckin online and then went to early checkin. My room was not ready but for $75, it could be made ready. I declined and they said they would text me when the room was ready. After waiting masked up for 3.5 hours and receiving no text, I went to the Key pick up desk. I presented my ID and was given my room which apparently had been ready for quite some time. This lack of guest concern has left a very negative impression of the Hilton Hawaiian.

We stayed for 4 days at the Ali Tower. It was an incredible stay. I loved everything about it. We only left the complex once during our stay. We rented a car from Enterprise and drove to the North Shore and just really enjoyed our stay immensely. The atmosphere was very touristy, obviously and there were people from everywhere. All of the things you would enjoy about Hawaii were at our fingertips and convenient. Most everything around could be booked through the concierge and they handled the details. Perfect stay. Thank you Hilton for a great experience.

We've just returned from a wonderful stay. Yes, it's busy but why would it not be! Get out of the resort and visit the surrounding sights and the beaches that way you get a mixture of everything. Our room was wonderful in Rainbow tower and we think this tower is the best one in our opinion. Make sure you witness the fireworks on Friday evening. Great views, great location and simply wonderful hotel in the heart of Waikiki. Mahalo

This hotel is not cheap by any means and when you pay around $550 USD for a room you fully expect all the benefits that come with booking a room and a lifetime Hilton Diamond membership. This stay was truly disappointing. I don't know why this is the case but absolutely everything requires an extra charge, they don't even give you a breakfast buffet but a $10 breakfast credit that barely covers a muffin and a coffee. Its absolutely miserable. The facilities as well as mostly charged and they also charge you a resort fee on top of it. This was really disappointing. The rooms were small and not well placed in front of Waikiki beach (mainly obstructed and awkward views). They essentially got a prime piece of land and then packed everyone in like sardine cans to try and get the most rooms in that area. The proximity to the beach was a plus and the city center is very accessible but other than that, left feeling disappointed.

Only two elevators work for an entire tower. Total disaster getting up to your room and out onto the property. Elevators packed with people arguing with one another who can get on and who cannot get on. Makes for a completely low budget feel. The hotel does not have satellite. Good luck watching you’re game . Hotel does not have Amazon prime so you have to go off property to watch Thursday night football .

The site is fantastic on the beach with the lagoon. The rooms are very disappointing. I was in the Tapa Tower and the hallway carpets were really dirty. The rooms need maintenance and a major renovation to keep the Hilton name and its good reputation

This was our 12th time at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. Honestly, the resort is looking very tired, old. Other than re-doing the beachfront restaurant, Tropics (which now costs a small fortune to eat there), everything else is stale. We had a corner room with a great view, 2 balconies, valued at almost $600/night (we used 500,000+ points) but the room was very worn. Walls scuffed up, furniture gross, dirty carpet. Very disappointing. Also, the resort has closed several of the restaurants on the grounds, so there are big vacant spaces with nothing going on, which also limits choices for eating. It is VERY EXPENSIVE to eat at the resort anyway. One pancake is $22. A burger can cost almost $35. Ridiculous. Overall, except for the ocean views and a great beach, I'd say, sadly, we won't be returning. Hilton, you can do better at a resort like this, especially given what you charge.

Hilton Hawaiian Village has everything you could want (and more) in a beach resort for any occasion. We were celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary and the resort backdrop was romantic, lively, and perfect! From the picturesque beaches, mountains, and sunsets, the amazing food and drinks, and the amazing staff that were so friendly and helpful. This was a once in a lifetime trip for us that we will be sure to repeat with the Hilton.

Wry disappointed in this hotel. As a Gold Hilton member I have stayed at a number of Hilton resorts. First you will see numerous responses from management but honestly they seem to give lip service because I was here just over a year ago and all the same complaints still exist. First, the mattresses are horrible. Sagging and soft worse now than a year ago. Bathroom and shower need significant cleaning and upgrade. Air conditioning very loud barely works. Called maintenance but they were useless and uninterested. Flickering lights in room maintenance said oh it happens. I asked for a gold upgrade from when I booked. Hotel not full but they never even acknowledged. Elevators scary. Noise and shake. Location is fabulous but management needs to wake up and not just lip service to reviews
