I stayed at The New Otani Kaimana Beach hotel for seven nights, and found this stay even better than the last time I was there. The hotel has done extensive renovations to its lobby bar, and guest rooms bringing it up to date with a fresh modern sense, and little touches of aloha. I have been to Waikiki several times,...

Get me a stretch of sand, bone-warming sun, and a place to chill out, especially during the winter months, and I'm a happy man. I want to wake to the soothing sound of breaking waves. I want to take in the aroma of suntan lotion as people stroll by. I want to follow strange footprint patterns in the sand. For...

We were both very happy with this hotel and will come back next time in Honolulu. I'd recommend The New Otani as long as you don't require a full service hotel (which oddly enough we usually do but here the pros outweigh the cons!). We decided to stay at the New Otani based on friends recommendation and Trip Advisor reviews...

My wife and I spent 5 nights at this property during our honeymoon. We were upgraded to an Ocean View Deluxe room with an amazing panorama along Waikiki (and beyond towards Eva Beach) and out over the Pacific. Although the room was rather small, the scenery from our balcony more than made up for this fact. The open-air lobby is...

This old hotel - known to locals as the Kaimana Beach hotel - is the closest hotel to Diamond Head. It is located right on the beach - you walk out of the hotel lobby on to the sand. Its restaurant - the Hau Tree Lanai - nestles under an ancient tree and you can drop a blossom on the...

Location. Concerning hotels, the problem with Honolulu is that the great majority of them are concentrated in Waikiki. And concentration is indeed THE problem here. Waikiki is a ghetto, a fancy and expensive one but a ghetto nonetheless. Yet the area just outside of Waikiki is actually very pleasant: Kapi'olani beach park, Sans-sourcing beach, the park going toward Diamond Head,...

As it is stated Otani is at the quiet side of Waikiki. Meaning less traveled and away from the tourist herd. Our room was small, and the bathroom could have been a little bigger. But lets face it folks who wants to hang out in a hotel room when you are in Oahu aka paradise. I must add that the...

We were quite content here. The room was small, basic and the decor was dated, but it was clean, comfortable, quiet & everything worked. Our view was officially of the side of the next door condo (which was kind of neat seeing the lifestyle of some residents) but we lucked out and had a partial ocean view too. The Hau...

We stayed here one night because we had a layover on our flight to Sydney. We didn't expect much... just a room to comfortably spend the night in near the beach. The rooms are very small and pretty run-down. This was not a surprise given the cost. What we were most disappointed with was the service. The hotel staff seem...

We flew in for a quick 3-day trip and the Kaimana was recommended to us. I booked one of ther "moderate" rooms at a pretty reasonable rate. Front desk staff were very friendly, and sympathetic when the first room they assigned to us hadn't yet been cleaned :-/. Finally, we arrived in our room (beautiful Diamond Head view). Though on...
