Kaimana Hotel was the perfect place to celebrate my best friend's birthday, and provided the perfect ambiance for my boyfriend and I to fall in love with one another all over again. We were stunned at the breathtaking view when we walked into our affordable park-view room; majestic Diamond Head filled the entire wall to wall, floor to ceiling, view. It was one of those surreal moments where you wonder if you're in a movie, or feel as though maybe someone should wake you from a dream. I am from Hawaii and grew up accustomed to these views, but something about being on the 9th floor staring eye-to-eye with the mountain was captivating. The 9th floor had been recently renovated and we found the room comfortable and spacious. We enjoyed several meals at Hau Tree hotel restaurant staff during our stay. The staff were welcoming and became friends. The restaurant was quaint, upscale, and with an ocean view that could not be matched. Breakfast was simple, and dinner was classy. We explored much of Waikiki during our stay, going to larger resort pools, hitting up bars, and trying a range of affordable to higher-end restaurants, but always found ourselves craving the simple but classy environment at Kaimana Hotel. The lobby is stunning, the staff are kind, the management we met were considerate and helpful, and the views were unmatched. I loved that we were adjacent to all of the excitement of Waikiki, but with plenty of ambiance and peacefulness to rest. We intended to stay for 3 days, yet we ended up there for 5! This place is top notch for the price - the next time we go we will try an ocean view. Indeed, this hotel brought back a sense of wonder and excitement for travel that my partner and I had forgotten during the pandemic. We love Kaimana Hotel and we know you will too.…
I just find it difficult to find words emphatic enough to describe how much I love this hotel. The lobby and restaurant/bar have been recently redesigned with ongoing updates to the rooms for the next year or so. Even so, the serenity of the place is not compromised. From first entering the property, one is washed over with good vibes. Open air from front to back, you can glimpse beautiful Kaimana Beach and the ocean beyond thru the iconic hau trees situated amongst the dining area seating. The decor is spectacular: a modern take on a 70’s surf lodge with gorgeous light fixtures, wildly comfortable and chic (and weather appropriate) furniture, cool art, beautiful colors...an Instagrammers dream hotel lobby. The staff are beyond amazing. Like within a day, I felt like I’d met a whole crew of fabulous new friends but by the end of a week, I felt like I was being cared for by loving family. You can tell they all have fun together as well, particularly the restaurant staff. The food and drink should be noted...likely some of the best being made in Honolulu at the moment, if not beyond. Thoughtful dishes, accomplishing approachable and high end all at once. Everything you want to eat but way better than most people and places are able to execute. Cocktails are brilliant and seasonally appropriate/thoughtful and the wine is the pick of the litter...down to the by the glass options. Topping it all are the treats coming out of the pastry kitchen and even the fantastic cold brew. The rooms are spacious and well appointed with gorgeous balcony views from all sides and, most importantly, a very comfortable mattress. Top notch especially for the price. It’s just so nice to see such a fantastic property so well looked after. Nothing better than staying steps away from some of the best sand in Honolulu. Cannot wait to return over and over again. …
Perfect location a little bit off Waikiki beach, separated by a huge park from the craziness of Waikiki. Right on a nice beach with a more local crowd in particular for the sunset. The rooms are nice but the carpet is just ugly and a bad choice for a hotel room. The restaurant in the hotel is nice but overpriced. The bar is cool, so is the lobby. Parking across from the hotel is easy and much cheaper than at the hotel.
If you don't want to be in the middle of Waikiki and want to be more low key, this is a great hotel. It's got a nice beach, and it's next to the Outrigger Canoe Club if you have privileges to go there. The rooms are quite small, but we usually opt for a bigger room with a view. Don't expect too much service from the concierge. And you'll most likely want a car or expect to Uber everywhere.
We stayed at this hotel as part of a birding tour and found it to be excellent. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable with a good bed and a great balcony with a clear view of Diamond Head crater. The bathroom was clean and well stocked. The WiFi is good. The location is very good because it is far enough away from Waikiki and Honolulu to be peaceful, but just a short walk to both those places. We walked to Diamond Head crater from here to do the Diamond Head crater walk. We found the breakfast at Hau Tree Lanai to be quite expensive, so recommend a short walk along the foreshore towards Waikiki for any meal at Barefoot Beach Cafe. This became our favourite place to eat. The beach is 60 seconds away and Kapiolani Park is across the road. Fantastic location. It was also fun to get something to eat and a few beers from the ABC Store and sit on the balcony with Diamond Head as a companion. We will definitely be back.…
