Staff was very helpful and accommodated to all my needs. Hotel was very clean and overall my experience was very satisfying. This was my second time visiting this hotel and I was impressed yet a 2nd time!
If you love to shop it’s in the middle of all the stores, and restaurants and malls farmers markets souvenir stores their staff was amazing we were able to get beach chair’s and beach umbrellas and beach towels every time we went to the beach I would definitely go back to this hotel it was also modern my daughter’s enjoyed staying here
We visited HI from Guam so that my husband could have surgery. Malia was the first person we encountered at HYC. First impressions go a long way and she was awesome. We told her about the surgery and she offered us an accessible room, one that would accommodate his needs. She made sure we had a refrigerator and microwave. She was nothing short of amazing. Our view was spectacular. We could see the ocean and the mountains. We were about 2 blocks from the beach. The hotel offers beach chairs, umbrella’s and towels which was helpful. The hotel is in the heart of Waikiki. Restaurants were easily accessible. We were able to walk as often and far as we wanted, every day. The hotel was great because all of the staff made it great. Again, our favorite was Malia. The front door people, housekeeping, everyone - all were awesome. Customer service is definitely on point! Would stay again.…
We decided to honeymoon in Hawaii and booked our stay at the Hyatt Centric Waikiki Beach. Firstly, there is a $42 daily parking fee that we were not informed of until check in. I booked our stay using the Expedia Mobile app and the apps layout makes it hard to find that there is an additional parking fee, so heads up. Parking at this location is a nightmare. The garage is shared with other stores and public parking that there is no "dedicated parking" for hotel guests, the staff advises you to park on the 5th and 6th floor. All I can say is, it can take a few laps to find a spot, good luck. Soon after check-in, our experience with the hotel went sour. We arrived late around 10:00 PM due to delayed flights that we didn't get to fully review our room until the following day. Being our honeymoon, we decided to wake up a little late and enjoy breakfast in bed. We turned on the tv and noticed that the bulletin board mentioned their in-house restaurant so we tried calling a few times with no luck so decided to call the front desk. They informed us that the restaurant "did not survive covid" and no room service was available. It was very frustrating to find that this information wasn't publicly posted nor updated within the lobby or even on their in-room tv menu. It would have been really appreciative if the front desk individuals could offer other assistance or suggestions for places to eat or order in but no such help was extended, even when asked. Furthermore, during our second night stay, my wife suddenly had an allergic reaction to the feather duvet. Her allergy can usually be handled with a fully enclosed cover (pillows, duvet, etc.) but to our horror we found our duvet to be sandwiched between two sheets instead of a proper duvet cover. When we called room service immediately following our findings, they informed us that when they "run out of duvet covers, we'll sometimes sandwich the duvet between two sheets". I'm sure you can immediately imagine our frustration to hear this and then a follow up call informing us that the Hyatt Centric Waikiki no longer uses duvet covers but all duvet's are sandwiched between two sheets. The staff responded immediately by sending us new sheets and a featherless duvet, but by this point my wife was already in the shower crying trying to handle the allergic reaction. All in all, this is our personal experience and we hope you have a better one but it definitely put a damper on our honeymoon.…
Excellent location. In the heart of Waikiki beach, close to restaurants and shops . Average room. Clean but kind of outdated. Poor amenities. (Not a big deal) Very friendly staff. Overall, a good experience.
This hotel is the best! Everything clean, staff friendly, microwaves available for your convenience, and it is literally close to everything! Walking distance. Thank you! Couldn’t have asked for a better stay!
Outstanding property and location. Short walk to Waikiki Beach. Shopping and restaurants all right there. Room was very spacious with both mountain and a slight beach view. Used the eating location several times with take-out food from neighboring restaurants. Highly recommended for an elegant, convenient stay.
A week before our arrival, I received a email which told us that, due to Covid, masks would be required in public areas of the hotel except when eating and drinking. We also asked a few days later and it was confirmed. When we arrived, the check in staff was unmasked and so were most guests. When we were asked about preferences for having the room cleaned, we asked if the staff would wear masks and we were told that the hotel cannot require employees to wear a mask. Therefore we went without having any housekeeping, which was not our expectation. I find it absurd that I was told that the hotel cannot require masks, because there are all kinds of roles in hotel work where protective equipment is required, for example gloves for handling food. We had also requested a shower stool in advance. When we arrived, we were told at check in that it had been placed in our room, but it had not. It was provided after we asked, but to our surprise someone entered the room and placed it in the bathroom when we were out and we have no idea if they were masked, but I doubt it. My wife tried to spend some time at the pool. She asked if the umbrellas could be opened and it took close to an hour and an additional request before it was done. The deviation from the Covid policy that we were given in both email and on the hotel website made our stay difficult and at times uncomfortable. We were not in a position to ask other guests to wear masks for instance in elevators and so we often had to wait until no one else needed an elevator before we could get to our room or down to the lobby. I’ve stayed in Hyatt hotels many times in the past and this stay did not match my expectations from Hyatt.…
As a returning customer, I must say that I will never return to this property again! Not sure if there is a change in management or what happened. This past experience is nothing but horrible for lack of a better word. Hotel is centrally located but not ocean front and no true ocean view rooms. We didn't care to stay in the room much so that wasn't an issue for us. However, the lack of service, not so clean room, unwelcoming staff made me never want to return to this hotel again! For the price you have to pay (including the extras for parking and resort fee), you sure can find better ones at comparable price point. The hotel gets a 1 star for it's location and that's about all the pros I can say about this hotel. Here is why I won't come back: 1) Hotel front desk staff doesn't make you feel welcomed at all. The front desk didn't explain anything to us as to what the hotels offers in terms of amenities and activities. They charge a resort fee but this is not a resort property offers resort amenities. They are just there to take your money. 2) Our room had hair in the bed on the night we checked in. I'm not sure if the sheet was even changed. We brought our own towels and used it to cover the bed. 3) Room is very very barebone basic. The rooms don't have balcony so if you are looking for fresh air or prefer a room with balcony, this is not the hotel. 4) Bathroom is lack of proper lighting. The vanity light is so dim that you can hardly use it. And the toiletry items are tiny and subpar. 5) AC is lacking, with the afternoon sun the room gets heated up. 6) They cut corners in every way. They use COVID as excuse to cut down services and benefit. Hawaii is open and many hotel restaurants are open and fully functional. As a full service hotel, not sure why their bar and restaurant can't be open? The hotel said globalist member gets points as compensation for lack of breakfast benefit. We never got it. 7) I understand the hotel welcomes pet but dogs should be leashed on property. I was surprised to see an unleashed dog and sniffed by it in the hotel lobby. The dog owner seems to be friend with hotel staff, they were all playing with the dog at the lobby while guests were waiting around. The bottom line is the hotel doesn’t warm my business any more.…
We stayed at this hotel for a total of 8 nights, including 1 night upon arriving to Hawaii and 7 nights at the end of our holiday, after visiting 2 other islands. The hotel is centrally located in Waikiki, with close proximity to many restaurants and shops, and short walking distance to the beach. Paid parking is available. The common areas are very pleasant and clean, and the room we had was nicely designed, large and comfortable. A good safe and small refrigerator were much appreciated. Beds were good. Service at the reception and street levels/concierge was friendly and professional. The hotel is reasonably priced when location and quality are taken into account. Among the few things we found lacking for grading this hotel as excellent are the following: 1. During our first night at the hotel, the A/C was noisy, and we commented on this issue after this short stay. We received a courteous reply from the hotel management, with a promise to attend to this issue. During the 2nd visit, in which we stayed in another room, the A/C worked fine. 2. Windows are not soundproof. We were luckily at the 19th floor, but still could hear much of what went on outside. 3. Housekeeping was generally good, but upon our arrival to the 2nd stay there were only 2 sets of towels in the room, even though we had booking for three. No one picked up the phone at housekeeping, room service or the reception, and we needed to go down physically to the reception in order to get the 3rd set. One morning we needed the room for several hours and put a ‘Do not disturb’ sign. A message was posted on our door that the room will be cleaned only if we contacted housekeeping, which we decided to drop. In other hotels, housekeeping simply try again later during the day. The day before our departure the room was not cleaned until the afternoon, and we had to request this specifically. 4. The hotel provides towels and other beach equipment. However, no space for drying up bathing suits is available. Despite these caveats, our overall experience was good and we recommend this hotel for a stay in Honolulu.…
