An early Valentine's Day get away. We had a delightful stay at The Samuel Durfee House. Michael and Heather made us feel so comfortable and were great resources for things to do around Newport in the winter. Their rooms are beautifully appointed, comfortable and cozy. We stayed in the Durfee Room this visit. Breakfasts were yummy too, by the way....

My wife and I have always been impressed by the rooms, breakfasts, and extremely knowledgeable inn owners! I think it makes a big difference when you can not only have a relaxing stay but also speak with people who are immersed and engaged in their local community. You know you are getting advice from people who really know the area....

Our two night stay at this B&B was to celebrate my wife's birthday. This early 1800s historic building was refurbished by the current owners, Michael and Heather, when they first acquired the property some 18 years ago. The building's original structure was stabilized and restored without changing its historic accuracy. The interior furnishings and appointments provide a very historically authentic...

My mother and I spent four comfortable nights in the spacious Harrison Suite. This suite has a very comfortable bed, a little sitting room that can be closed off from the bedroom, and a rather huge private patio! We were treated like family from the very first moment, and enjoyed the most delicious breakfast every day! I even received a...

f you judge a B&B on its convenience, its quaintness, its spectacular breakfasts, and its location, the Samuel Durfee House would always bring in a top rating. But, what makes this a truly exceptional place to stay: Michael and Heather, the owners. Our trip to Newport was the highlight of our vacation and much of that was thanks to the...

This is a relatively inexpensive B & B I think by Newport RI standards - we saved a lot of money by staying here rather than a more famous B & B in the TA list. It is relatively small, and our room, the Ida Lewis, was mostly taken up by the biggest bed we have seen! Very comfortable, and...

We just spent three nights at the Samuel Durfee House and had a great stay. Heather and Michael couldn't have been more accommodating. We were very comfortable in The Harrison Suite. The bed was very comfortable and the rooms were well appointed. Parking was a big asset. We could leave our car and walk almost anywhere because of the central...

Also, so happy to hear that you found our breakfasts delicious (I will let Michael know as he does the majority of the cooking) we try to vary our menu~ even if you stay a week you...

Michael and Heather are great. We stayed for a couple days in the D. Duke room. The owners are friendly and helpful. Breakfast is excellent. The rooms are clean and the bead is comfortable. The SD house is within walking distance of almost everything. We would definitely stay here again the next time we are in Newport.

A great location and the owners are very knowledgeable about everything Newport. We parked our car when we arrived and did not drive it until we left - we walked everywhere, including down to the Mansions and the Cliff Walk! The Fitbit logged 12 miles for us that day! Breakfast was wonderful. We were in the Ida Lewis room and...

We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay at the Samuel Durfee House and our convenient location! 12 miles of walking is quite impressive -it certainly helps with amazing views of cliff walk and the mansions. A little pricey, but a great location. It is coveniently located within walking distance of many attractions. The off street parking is also a major plus. The hosts (Heather and Mike) do a great job of making you feel at home. Beds are very comfortable and the breakfast is awesome. This is an 1803 building, so the rooms are comfortable,...
