Travellers' Choice
This refined Georgian Revival inn is only 3 minutes to the Luray Caverns, gardens and museum, and 10.6 miles from the Thornton Gap Entrance of Shenandoah National Park. Each of the 45 rooms has been individually decorated with relaxing color schemes, beautiful fabrics, rich patterns, classic furnishings and modern amenities. Pillow-top bedding provides exceptional comfort. Large windows with natural light illuminate most rooms, allowing the vivid landscape of the outdoors to be seen. In addition to a fine-dining restaurant, Circa '31 and meeting facilities, the inn has a fitness center, a spa and an art deco-inspired cocktail bar known as The Speakeasy. There are also gardens, a gift shop and an art gallery.

Loved the Inn, hated the Murder Mystery seating arrangements. This a great place to stay. The rooms are small but well kept and clean. Excellent food and service. I attended a murder mystery event in July. The murder mystery was great. Loved the actors. However the hotel manager thought it would be great idea to make everyone sit at the same table for every meal. This defeats the purpose of having a event where you are required to get to know as many people as you can over the weekend. Not sure I would attend another event there if they impose the same restrictions. Sad.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel grounds are beautiful. Interior of the hotel has a lot of charm. The bathrooms are very dark and there is no clock or clock radio in the bedroom. The TV in the room is very small and is installed in a cabinet. There is no way to watch TV in your bed. Recommend they remove the TV cabinet install a large TV on the wall with a swivel so it can be view in any part of the room. Food was very good as was the service. Check in was quick and easy.

We spent 2 nights at the Mimslyn Inn. This place is beautiful and we look forward to returning! Our room and all other areas of the hotel were very clean. Our room was a bit tiny but smelled fresh. The hand sanitizer station on the wall was a nice touch. We swam in the salt water pool which was amazing. The grounds were well taken care of. Another pool, a fire pit, hammocks and an outdoor ping pong table are a short walk from the main hotel building. We enjoyed relaxing, reading and having drinks on the huge, breezy front porch. Each and every staff member we met was very friendly and professional. Lunch and dinner at Circa 31 were delicious!

We spent our anniversary there and were confined to the indoor areas because they do not limit smoking on the porch or pool decks. Consequently, all of the smokers, of which there were many, congregate in those areas and makes the atmosphere intolerable for people who are allergic to cigarette smoke. Such a shame. Because of this, we cannot recommend this hotel to non-smokers who wish to enjoy the outdoor areas. We won’t return.

I’d been excited about staying in a historic Virginia inn, but overall it just felt old and slightly run down rather than quaint. Room was very musty smelling and feeling, and the AC unit was very loud, making it difficult to sleep. The AC units also made it uncomfortably loud when sitting anywhere outside near the building, where I had hoped to spend some time reading. I was also disappointed that so many amenities are still unavailable, particularly the spa and the Speakeasy. It wasn’t a terrible stay, but it didn’t measure up to expectations, particularly considering how much I paid for the room.

Thank you for your review. I have posted your review and will discuss with our staff. I agree we are not 100% to full operating speed. I don't like to blame COVID but we just are not able to hire staffing for any price. I recently posted a job opening for $50.00 per hour for servers and had zero response. I placed the advertisement in 4 newspapers with 1/2 page ads. We do have a lot demand for both the Speakeasy and Spa but just unable to find enough people that want to work weekends and evenings at any price. I will check the air-conditioners as if they are loud , its a sure sign that something is about to break. I am sorry for your disappointment.
