Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I had to give the Lodge an average rating simply because of the obstructed views of the mountain valley below. Whether it was the viewing area by the office, the patio outside the restaurant or from the restaurant itself the view was totally obstructed or about 80% obstructed. The places that would allow for a view were just overgrown. The view from our room was probably 80% obstructed by overgrowth. The room, the service, the food were all good. The grounds inside the lodge area were well maintained but the obstructed views led to a disappointing stay.

We stayed here at the Shenandoah National Park Skyland Resort back in September. We were on the Globus Historic East Tour and what a wonderful tour that was. We stayed in many nice hotels and this was definitely one of them, we were there only for one quick night, it was a busy tour with lots to see and do, but could have stayed there a lot longer. Had a awesome view of the Shenandoah Valley from our balcony. They had a really great restaurant nearby with great food and another awesome view, we even saw several bears on the way up, again very quaint and loaded w/atmosphere.

We had a great views from our lodge from the balcony but do not go expecting 5* accommodation - it basic and rustic. There are of course various accommodation options available within the park. Due to the age of the property we stayed in didn't feel it was clean - bathroom was very dated and could do with being updated. Staying in the park you are trapped and there wasn't a great deal of choice in the on site restaurants, which were busy needless to say and limited food on the menu, both menus appeared to be the same whether you ate in the either of the two there. The lodge could definitely have done with a small fridge within the room - TV reception was poor or snowy. The on site gift shop whilst large and guess trying to cater for everyone - seemed to have less in it whereas the one at the start of the drive had more choice and seemed smaller. I can only say people are happy to take your money but do not want to reinvest in the properties they are renting. Nice area to visit and would recommend the Luray Caves.

Could not have dreamed of a better property, staff and services. We did not have great weather due to severe storms that hit during the last evening of our stay but the staff and services we received during our stay we're superior !

It's not traditional, and far from town... Absolutely not convenitenly located, driving is thru rough road.. Not pleasant at all driving in rainy day. Nothing so special in lodge and rate is high. I prefer competitive rate. In future, I would stay in other motel in the area. HTH. Pete

Shenandoah Lodge is a lovely vacation rental. An authentic rustic log cabin with a kitchen, large wood burning fireplace, 2 bedrooms and a loft area. Perfectly located in the Shenandoah Valley, between the Shenandoah National Park and the George Washington National Forest. The Shenandoah River runs through the valley and Shenandoah Lodge is only 1/2 mile from river access. The George Washington National Fishing Lake is also within walking distance. There is a canoe outfitters just 1/2 mile up the road so river amenities, canoeing, kayaking, tubing and fishing, are plentiful. Just minutes away from Luray, for restaurants, grocery stores and all the local attractions, yet you are far out enough that you don't feel like your in the city. Reservation was made through Allstar Lodging. They are a local vacation rental agency in Luray and were very helpful as they have over 100 different lodging options. Stay at the lodge or anywhere in the Shenandoah Valley, I strongly recommend the area!!
