We returned to this hotel based solely upon our own stay a few years ago. What a disappointment, and worse. First room we were shown to was not the one we had confirmed this past December (six months prior to check in). Finally taken to room we rented to begin with after they'd told us it was not available to... More

We have had an unexpected stay at this beautiful location due to an evacuation of our home in Los Alamos NM. Bishop's Lodge opened up a room for our family and pets and have worked hard to accommodate our needs. We have been able to enjoy the lovely grounds, pool, and restaurant as we wait to hear news of the... More

We stayed in a newer room, and it was great! My only complaint was the bed. It was hard.... too hard... We had a wonderful balcony and fireplace. The views were amazing, and it was so peaceful. We loved our time here, we just wish the bed was a little bit more comfortable. Overall the resort is great, it just... More

This place is really accommodating. You don't need to leave for anything. Kids really loved the horseback riding and Joaquin is soooo helpful and courteous and cautious. He really knows what he is doing.

We stayed at Bishops Lodge on a Friday, Saturday and checked out on Sunday. We were celebrating my birthday that weekend. The first night we had dinner at the restaurant at Bishops Lodge. After being seated, the executive chef, came to our table, introduced himself, answered questions and made suggestions for dinner. I have never had that happen before, the... More

Amazing pool scene on the weekends during the summer. One of the best spas in the world. If you want a life-changing experience, ask for Daniel. He's not quiet or shy, but a terrific masseuse. The food in restaurant is great, especially breakfast. This is an amazing place to bring your family. The grounds of the resort are truly breathtaking.... More

This is my second year attending the Keep Santa Fe Beautiful Awards Banquet. The atmosphere is absolutely beautiful, with picturesque places and serenity surrounding you, even in the midst of others enjoying the atmosphere. The tables are set up on the grassy lawn by the pool, giving attendees their choice if they would like to sit in the shade of... More

We knew when we booked this lodge that it was not on the plaza. We did not expect to have to drive so far to get a bite to eat or a drink. The one resort dinning option is ok for 1 day but not if your spending several day's. This resort presented itself as a higher end resort, it... More

The restaurant is amazing great food! Service very nice and grounds beautiful. OK that's all that is positive. The rooms were awful the air conditioning was so old and loud it kept us up all night. We couldn't open the window or doors due to the smell of smoke from the Arizona fires. I heard another woman in another room... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
In August of 1851, a Frenchman, Jean Baptiste Lamy, arrived in the NM Territory as the first Bishop of Santa Fe. Here he built a private retreat; his chapel still stands today, now on the national register of historic places. After Lamy's Death, the land was acquired by the Pulitzer publishing family as a private vacation retreat. In 1917, the Thorpe family from Denver fell in love with these pristine acres, bought the property and developed the first resort in the state. Today Bishop's Lodge comprises 15 lodges for a total of 110 rooms ranging in sizes from 250 sq feet to 450, not to mention a 2000 sq foot Presidential Suite. Many of our rooms feature fireplaces and the majority all have outdoor access to patios, lawns or balconies. Our ShaNah Spa and Wellness Center which opened up in June of 2002 is a sanctuary where one can take time out to be nurtured by Mother Nature, guided by ancient wisdon and touched by angels. The experience may change your life. Other activities are abundant such as: trap/skeet shooting (offered to groups of 10 or monmre roomnights), horseback, pony trail rides, hiking, mountain biking, fitness center, excercise studio, outdoor pool, whirlpool and tennis to mention a few. Bishop's Lodge is located just 3 miles from the Historic Santa Fe Plaza. Complimentary shuttle service is provided by the lodge at scheduled times daily. ... more   less
