The Menger is a fun place to stay if you want to be in the middle of Texas history. Housing the Menger Bar and being directly across the street from the Alamo, you can't do any better! The old girl is well kept, ornate and beautiful. The room was small but comfortable and, being February, neither heat nor a/c was...

The hotel doesn't run air conditioning year round. Hence, it can be very hot, particularly on the 3rd or 4th floor. The temperature in my room varied from 77 to 82. I called the front desk several times and they said nothing could be done about this. The room and the beds are very small. The only parking they offer...

I stayed here 3 nights for a convention. The location is great! The hotel was very clean for being a historic hotel. I have stayed other historic hotels and Menger is immaculate compared to others. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The water in the shower was a little tricky to turn on and the heat/air can't be...

An awesome venue and a big slice of history. The Menger bag is a must stop. Stop, get a drink, sit in the huge reception area and dream how the Wild West was 125 years ago. Breakfast in the Colonial Room is the best

I booked through a required housing connection and felt the hotel would be fun do to history. Didn't know they didn't have central air, no updates to room in years, shower head blew out and they brought in a new one but it failed 5 minutes later. Would not recommend at all. Guest services were very nice and they had...

I stayed in the Menger Hotel for two nights and enjoyed my visit to San Antonio. This beautiful, historic hotel is lcoated across the street from the Alamo. You may forfeit some amenities that you receive from a "newer" hotel, however the atmosphere is wonderful and the staff was accommodating. The hotel is also very close the River Walk and...

This hotel claims to be a top hotel in San Antonio. Stayed here because the conference I was attending was being held here. Mistake one! Rooms are dated and business traveler unfriendly. three day stay. Mistake two! Arrived late on Sunday the 31st of January. First day room was ok. seemed to be a standard older hotel room (it is...

The overall cleanliness of my room was extremely disappointing and it was pretty disgusting I understand this is a historic hotel but the quality of the rooms at this hotel was subpar at best. Serious updates need to be made to the paint/carpeting/ bathroom appliances. The drainage of the shower was also very poor; within a minute of turning on...

This is such a venerable old hotel, how could we resist a walk-through? As you enter you're greeted by a life-size portrait of Davy Crockett in his famous buckskins. Keep walking. Be sure to look at pictures and read info along the hall. Keep walking. Notice the old-fashioned phone booths along the left side! Where is Dr Who? Do NOT...

Very nice hotel. Very polite and helpful staff. The history makes you feel like you are staying in a real cool place. Centrally located and has a very personal feeling. I do think they need to upgrade the fixtures in the bathrooms.
