I was in town for a conference at the convention center and didn't want to pay the $230+ rate the hotels associated with the conference were offering. After doing some research I decided to stay at the O'Brien. It's only 4 or 5 blocks to the convention center which can be walked to almost entirely along the river walk. As... More

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for two nights. We really enjoyed our stay. Our room was very roomy, and I also used the very comfortable lobby area on the third floor to read. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The site was very convenient to the the riverwalk, and the front desk staff gave many suggestions... More

We stayed at the O'brien for 4 nights and had a wonderful experience. The public areas are lovely, our room was beautiful, very clean, and had all the space we needed. Staff was unusually friendly and helpful--answered all our questions and even looked up some things online re: weekend events available. Even the housekeepers had good restaurant suggestions! Convenient to... More

My family and I have stay at this hotel every time we travel to San Antonio and have never had any problems. The staff is super polite and helpful. The breakfast is good and has a wide variety of things to choose from. We always get the room with double queen beds on the first floor because I have two... More

I paid over 300 dollars to stay in this hotel for two nights. First, it is an old hotel so there was a smell to it when you first walked through the doors. Secondly, the room was extremely small for double queen beds; the room smelled like it was previously flooded and then dried out. An old musky smell. Thirdly,... More

This was a hotel in a great location that should have done a lot better. Except for breakfast serviced in the mornings and a friendly day time front desk clerk, I would probably say skip it all together. The rooms were musky upon opening the door and no amount of air freshener I spayed got the smell out. I changed... More

Just got back last night from a one-night stay at the Hotel O'Brien. We popped the extra $10 for a balcony king, and especially appreciate that we therefore had no western exposure on this hot day. Ginormous room and spacious bath as well, with a claw-foot tub surrounded with granite (?) tiles and an add-on shower. Big step up and... More

My wife and I had a very pleasant time here July 4th, 2012. The city was crazy busy but the hotel did a very good job handling the load.

I bought the living social for a nice get away stay at the Historic Hotel. Little did I know they only have less than 40 rooms in which 5 of them are actually the rooms for the vochure. They over sold 900 of these. I paid over 100 dollars and did not get to use this because they were booked... More
