Loved staying at the Emily Morgan. Johnny and Phil went above and beyond to make sure we were well taken care of. Rooms are very clean and conveniently located. Johnny is great at providing tips to make sure you have and enjoyable stay.
We wanted a room with a view, and that's what we got. Overlooking the Alamo and the surrounding courtyard, and we could see the path we'd need to take to get to the Riverwalk. Our room met our specs of CLEAN/QUIET/SAFE. We loved the oversized tub and the view of the city with light-blocking curtains so we could sleep in. The hotel provided extras we needed (crib for baby, extra towels) with hardly any wait time. Even though the hotel is obviously old, the important things have been modernized. We would, however, have liked to have a small fridge and microwave for baby stuff, but we managed. Also, I called the day before we arrived, asking if the pool was operational and was told it was not...so we left our swim stuff at home. Lo and behold--it was up and running! But it wasn't a big deal in the long run as we were gone sightseeing / shopping the whole time. The valet service was awesome...Matt B and Jay M took care of us . The other guys did too. Phil at the front desk was polite and helpful and won my heart with a bottle of cold water and a warm cookie upon checkin. Not sure if this is standard practice but I'd vote for it to be! I will be coming back to this place!…
The homeless people broke a window in our car, blew marijuana smoke on our 8 year old child and aggressively tried to shake me down for cash in the parking lot behind the hotel. I will not return until DoubleTree management speaks to the Mayor/City Council of San Antonio to get this area cleaned up and safe for families.
Jay M and Brandon were outstanding valet attendants super job the information they provided was very helpful and they didn’t have any problems getting additional information when we asked for their help!!!!
Incredible accommodations and very reasonably priced. Phill at the front desk is the epitome of what service should be at any hotel in the world. Would totally recommend and make sure Phill behind the front counter helps you!
The convenience of the location of the Emily Morgan is its' best feature. On arrival the reservation we had made with a good price was not honored. We ended up paying above top dollar for 2 nights. Parking was an addditional $100 plus tips. There were no luggage carts available to move our luggage to the room (2 ladies). The reason? "Guests just take them up to the room floor and don't bring them back." Did it occur to the hotel to have a staff member canvass the floors? Two young men wanted to take our luggage to the room. We asked for one -- one only -- and we could take the rest. They insisted two because BOTH wanted tips. Here's the worst. They dropped our bags and us, leaving us in a room with no electricity!!! It was going on 9:00 p.m. We hadn't had dinner and we still didn't have a room. I let 'em have it at the front desk making sure they knew I wasn't going to tip two more guys to move the luggage again. I find my blood pressure going up as I review this hotel, so I'm going to stop. You get the picture.…
This was a huge disappointment. On arrival we were given a room on the second floor smack bang next to the pool, the room itself was the size of a shoe box!! Following a brief discussion, we were moved to the fifth floor facing the back of the hotel. Again, the room was very compact with poor lightening. This was not helped by our room being overlooked so we had to keep the blackout curtains drawn. Also, the room decor is very dark which adds to the gloom. The bathroom was very small, the bath did not have a plug/stopper and on the second request one was delivered to our room. There were also loose tiles around the bath and the door looked like it needed replacing. There was plenty of storage space, an iron and ironing board, but no room to actually put the ironing board out. The bed was a good size and comfortable. Breakfast was overpriced, for what was on offer, hot and cold buffet, and halfway through breakfast our coffee was taken away!! We only ate here once. As we were travelling from New Orleans, we had no choice but to use valet service. Again quite pricey but safer than leaving it in a public car park. The biggest advantage this hotel has is its proximity to all the sights, The Alamo is quite literally next door, and the river walk is just down the road. Overall impression is a dated and tired looking hotel in need of an upgrade. However being objective i think the type of room / which floor you are on may make a big difference to your experience. And no, we didn't see any ghosts!! …
The room was small and the price was not good for a Monday the tub was small and the stopper was broken. The amenities were non existent. Very poor channels on the tv we were hoping for better because it was so close to the Alamo. I guess we got what we paid for. We will never come here again!
Just want to give a quick shout out to Jay M for taking great care of us and our car during our trip! He loaded our luggage, opened the door for me, and responded quickly to grab our car. Thank you Jay!!
We chose the Emily Morgan for its proximity to the Alamo and Riverwalk. The hotel did not disappoint, the room was clean and large enough for a couple. We did research ahead of time and knew not to rent a car, the daily rate is very high because the Emily Morgan does not have its own lot and has to use a private lot. Why 4 out of 5? As Hilton Diamond members we get a daily credit for food and the breakfast buffet is priced above the credit and really not that special. Plus there is not an Executive Lounge at this location, which is not mentioned on the website
