Met up with some friends at the Hotel Gibbs. The bar was really nice. The bartender was engaging and very professional. Was watching the game on the TV. Would like to see a big screen that would be nice. The food was ok. We daily parked with the valet who was extremely nice and helpful. Guillermo did a great job. Will for sure come back and maybe stay the night.
We were there for a 56th high school reunion. The room was reminiscent of NY hotels (no wasted space), the bed was spot on and the walk-in shower was just right. The room provided for reunion was well located and well supplied. Complimentary breakfast plentiful, diverse and delicious but the staff was the very best part.of our visit. We’d like to give special kudos to both bellman and car handler Jeff and David who were so attentive and provided great service. Also a shout out to Heather at the front desk.
Fabulous hotel, My first visit to San Antonio and so pleased I booked this hotel. Would highly reccomend. Staff so friendly and accomodating from the moment we e mailed hotel with questions they promptly replied answering all my querries. I was after reading some reviews a little concerned that it may be a noisy hotel due to being centrally located so I requested a quiet room and they delivered. Room 403 was quiet, large and the most comfortable bed and pillows I have slept in. Very clean hotel with great complimentery breakfast over looking the Alamo, having coffee by the Alamo was something special. The manager would great everyone at breakfast checking all was ok, a lovely personal touch. This hotel is not only historical with beautiful features, it is welcoming, homely, friendly. We had a perfect stay and thank all for making our trip so memorable.…
It's currently 11pm on a Saturday night and we are tired from the busy day we have had sightseeing around San Antonio. However, we were placed at the back of the hotel so we get to listen to the heavy bass dance music that goes on all night in to the early hours of the morning for the second night running. The bed is quite firm, pillows small and uncomfortable, noisy pipes and even noisier AC/heater. Their website certainly needs updating too. The rooms are not the bright colorful rooms they picture, rather than bland, plain white rooms with unusual brass pipe type fittings on the desk area and on the headboard of the bed. No room for unpacking your clothes, and rooms feel cramped. There is a fridge (edit: dropped a star as I just got drink from said fridge and it is nothing but slush now thanks to it being too cold) but no microwave so remember that if you decide to bring leftovers back from one of the many great restaurants in the area. Also beware of the creamer they leave by the Keurig in the bedrooms, I went to make a coffee the first morning and the lumps in it certainly would have made me sick. Breakfast is the one good thing about this place. Plenty of choices, the bar/dining area however looks like some cheap greasy spoon cafe in some backstreet alley. They could do with marking the main entrance to the lobby, the other outside entrance (you do need your key card) sticks really bad and you do need a bit of force to open it from the outside. This is our first trip to San Antonio and this hotel was highly rated, how is beyond me. We had high expectations only because they give the impression of high quality. I'm very sad to say, this is not the case. The one great thing (besides the breakfast), is location but we will be back to San Antonio again for sure, we just won't be staying here next time. (It's now 11:30pm and the music is getting louder).…
I came for a business trip, and my stay was amazing! The staff and valet staff are all very friendly and helpful. Gracie with valet was extremely polite. When I needed a question answered everyone was very helpful to whatever I needed. Also the breakfast food was delicious!
Spent a weeknight at the Gibbs Hotel and was very impressed. Great location and a really cool and unique building. I think it was an old bank building , but the check in and staff were great and the rooms were very nice. You cannot beat the location, across from the Alamo and a couple of blocks from the Riverwalk. Will definetly stay here again when I am in San Antonio!
Wonderful stay with very friendly staff. Clean and comfortable room. Accessible to River Walk and surrounding sights. Had a great time. Valet parking was superb service. Great communication skills and always ready to help!
Very nicely done , keeping the old blending with the modern. Location is the best, walk across the street to the Alamo . within two block to the River Walk. Didn't use our car for three days, no need.
We recently stayed at the Hotel Gibbs and found the history of the building interesting. Our room was spacious with the needed amenities. Riverwalk was right around the corner. We found the Hotel Gibbs to be a great value!
Beautifully updated historic hotel. The staff went the extra mile to welcome us/answer questions, and the breakfast tacos were truly amazing. Right across from the Alamo and a quick jaunt to the River Walk. A wonderful San Antonio experience.
