Meant to stay for the whole weekend, but these small historic houses just aren't meant for a guy who's 6'5"! And we wanted to sleep in the same bed for our honeymoon :-) But we gave it a shot! We appreciated Robin and Wendy's history of the house, and recommendations for restaurants and places to visit. It's worth a visit...

Ok, getting to stay in a 350 year old house in Salem is just awesome. Add the great antiques, original plank flooring, fully operating brick fireplaces, and Robin's awesome muffins and you have the recipe for a great 2 night stay. We stayed in the master bedroom with a private bath and our teenage son stayed in the twin bedroom...

I wanted something authentic and I think I got it! The property is incredible, lots of antiques but it's a little too authentic in terms of being creepy. I didn't like the staff they were almost rude but the property is great if you want the true Salem experience. They need to clean a bit better as being old it's...

My husband and I only stayed for the weekend, but we were truly impressed by the house and all the history that lies within it. The hosts were so great and gave of all the information we needed, including some history lessons and personal stories. There are also tons of hand written letters from previous guests about their experiences at...

This was one of the most memorable of my travels: witchy, weird and wonderful. Kay personally hosted my visit and generously gave me her best room, huge with a bathroom larger than most bedrooms. This is the real deal as far as historic Salem: 17th century hearth at the heart, with larger additions representing the following centuries. The house is...

Our stay at the Daniels house was the highlight of our week-long April trip to Massachusetts! My adult son and daughter and I booked the Rose room and it's adjoining twin bedroom--perfect! Lovely fire in my room and sweet Sabrina (the kitty hostess) to keep us company! It is a one of a kind experience to stay in this lovely...

We had a wonderful time- five women all gathered together to celebrate my 50th birthday. The Stephen Daniels house is old world at its best. We stayed in the Rose room and the adjoining room - very comfortable and more than enough space for everyone. To be honest, I was concerned about that but was determined to just make the...

We stayed from Friday, September 30-Sunday, October 2 and our stay couldn't have been better. We stayed in the great room and slept very cozy in our canopy bed in front of the fireplace. The house is very old and decorated in eclectic antiques that Kay ( the owner) has collected throughout the years and it adds to the creepy/...

This is a very old house with a lot of antiques. It has great history and the people are lovely. The house needs some TLC and could use a good cleaning. Slept fine but a little loud with cars on the street

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The home was converted to a restaurant and inn in 1945 by the Hallers. Current owner Catherine Gill, affectionately known as Kay, purchased the inn in 1962 and has proudly served as innkeeper and caretaker during 49 years . Making us Salem's oldest running Bed&Breakfast! Upon entering the home one is immediately enthralled by the sheer number of antiques and collectibles that cover most every conceivable nook and cranny. Antique pottery next to historic English puppets, laced with cross-stitch art works, majestic portraits, antique toys and so much more. A life time of Kay's world travels and collecting. It is an eclectic feast for the senses. The home itself is a living museum where guests can take a step back in time as they touch and see, feel and explore and get a true sense of the history and romance that abounds throughout the entire home. Our goal is focused on providing you with an enjoyable and memorable experience and not merely a comfortable place to relax and rest your head. We may not be Salem's most modern inn but we are the most unique! Our suites are furnished with period four poster canopy beds and decorated with genuine antiques. There are no velvet ropes here! If history and ambiance is what you seek than the Daniels House is the place to stay. Come and meet your hosts Kay Gill and Robin McDonald. Enjoy our complimentary continental breakfast of fresh baked muffins, juice, cereals, coffee, teas and pleasant conversation. Child and pet friendly. Thank you for visiting and hope to meet you at the Inn.Owner and operator for over 49 years Kay. ... more   less
