Traveling cross country and an IHG member having stayed at numerous Holiday Inn Express hotels and this hotel had rooms available. Check-in was uneventful and the room was comfortable. The down side was the hotel us under construction. There was not heads-up on the web site. Construction material piled in the lobby lounge and by the ice machine. Also, no reasonable breakfast offered. Having stayed at over 20 hotels in the past three months, this one was disappointing.
Somebody should have warned us. This hotel is under renovation but the it was never mentioned when we booked it. I am a Gold member and we always stay at HIE. The lobby was completely torn up and the hallways were filled with construcion debris. The elevator was dusty with const debris and the front entry into the hotel had const trash spewed about. The room we were put in was finished and nice but the lobby leading to it was not. The room with the ice machine was filthy and the ice machine didn't even work.
We stayed here three nights, Feb 25-25. The hotel was modern/nice/ clean/standard for its class. Breakfast had protein, fiber and fruit available. It was adequate yet unimaginative, heavy on sugary items. They had two types of tasteless omelets to choose from and a few types of bottled hot sauce and salsa packets to try to give them some zip. Also weak, bitter, average coffee. The breakfast room had lovely sun coming in to wake my brain up in the am. That was nice. The mattress and pillow was comfortable. Duvet was too hot for my liking so I finally asked for a thinner blanket, then slept much better. The thing that was quite substandard was the WiFi. We like to read the morning news on our iPads, read a little before bed. We couldn’t get reception in our room. Even sitting in the lobby where it was supposed to be best was intermittent. The front desk person said they had just changed providers to fiber optic to increase speeds and hadn’t yet worked out the bugs. So why didn’t they call that provider and fix the problem ASAP? The location was very good to visit our friends in Oro Valley without spending too much. I’d stay here again if their internet was fixed. Otherwise, no, I’d look for something else. …
This was a very nice holiday inn express. It is everything I expected based on many stays around the country. The only minor complaint is that I felt the wifi might have been a bit slow. Definitely would stay here again.
We travel from Maine to California and back every winter. We usually stay in Holiday Inn Express or Hampton Inn. This was the first time in this particular HI. The new renovations were poorly done. Bad paint job, missing caulking between floor tiles. Overall it was very shabby compared to many other HI we’ve stayed in. On top of that, the room rate was horrible. We paid $194.47 for one night. Would not recommend this hotel at such a high room rate.
