We had a wonderful stay at the Renaissance Hotel in downtown Providence. The building is beatiful and right across from the State Capitol (our room had a view of the Capitol). The main train station is 5 minutes walk. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

The room was modern with ample space to move around and to place your luggage. Pillows were way too soft, didn't provide much support for sleeping. The wi-fi was a bit sketchy as they don't use a private network that makes you enter a password to log in. When I tried to use

Dear Mayybees, Thank you for your recent visit to Providence. We appreciate you taking the time to provide us with such detailed feedback about your stay. I am very sorry to hear that several things throughout your stay did not meet your expectations. We have just started the process of replacing all guest room pillows, I am sorry that we were not able to complete this prior to your stay. The design of the bathroom and closet doors is unique, and the access to the closet is viewed by some guests as a benefit, but not all share that feeling. I am also disappointed to hear that our staff did not provide you with a warm arrival. We pride ourselves on the great service provided by our associates, and I am sorry this was not your experience. We take guest safety and security very seriously. The internet does operate on a secure network, but does not require authentication to use the complimentary tier. The Renaissance Providence splash page does provide the level of security required by Marriott for complimentary access. If your travels bring you back to RI, I would hope that you give us another opportunity to earn your business. Best regards, Kim

Right on Capital Hill and near Providence Place. Great service starting with the valet...the front desk and our server at breakfast. Our room was very clean and spacious. Bed was super comfy. Romantic getaway. Cozy and perfect!

Dear lanneburke, Thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed review. All of your comments are essential to educating our staff about good and bad service. I am so sorry this happened to your husband and it is not at all a reflection of our services. As you can tell by our other reviews regarding our service, this is a one-off situation that has been addressed with the Front Office Manager and her team. We missed an opportunity upon your conversation with the manager to leave you with a final positive impression, and once again I apologize. If your travels bring you back to Providence, I would welcome the opportunity to show you that your experience was not the typical experience of our guests. Please contact me personally and I will handle all of the details of your reservation. Best regards, Alyssa Gergel Director of Room Operations Alyssa.gergel@renaissanceprovidence.com

What's dinner there like?
Dinner in Providence is first-rate. There are plenty of great restaurants, especially in the Federal Hill area. Since the area is home to Johnson & Wales University, where there's one of the country's best Culinary and Hospitality programs, you'll find young students and recent grads who are working their best to further their careers. As a result, you find amazing food at the local restaurants (even the chains), and great service at the area hotels. The Renaissance always has young people working there, and they're always friendly, helpful, and professional. The bottom line is, you can't go wrong eating anywhere in Providence.

Where can you park if staying overnight? How much does it cost?
Hello and thank you for your question. You can valet park at the hotel for $30 with full in and out privileges. The closest garage is at the Providence Place Mall. This garage is 1/6 mile away and is $25 for 24 hours.
