I read ever review I could find about this campground. There are some negative reviews out there and i am not sure why. Our stay was great. we camped in site A40. We have a 20ft camper. With this small camper I had no issues navigating through to our site. The rest rooms were very clean. The staff were very...

Camp was overcrowded. Dusty and unlevel camp sights. Shower area not bad, but not enough showers for campers. They didn't enforce quiet time at all. Location was good. Food lockers were a good idea. I'd look elsewhere, there were so many campgrounds nearby.

We loved our stay at this campground. Stayed at A39...very tight and right on top of neighbors. But overall the short time we spent at site was just right. Much better than any hotel stay! Location perfect short drive to RMNP and Estes Park for shopping. Nighttime was extremely quiet after 10 p.m. which made for great sleeping! Hosts were...

This campground is a great choice if your wanting some nice views and a little piece and quiet. The backside of the campground did appear very tight and probably more suited for tents or a pop up. We had a 24ft trailer and had no problems fitting it in site A34 on the front road. There were a few more...

We loved our stay at East Portal last week. The staff were knowledgeable and helpful - even loaning the kids fishing poles and tackle to use at the nearby reservoir - the bathrooms clean and full of warm water and the wildlife abundant. We saw deer, elk and chipmunks up close. There were lots of kids there and they immediately...

We wanted to camp inside Rocky Mountain National Park, but all the campgrounds were booked by the time I was making reservations. This campground, run by Larimer County, turned out to be a good alternative -- perhaps even better with electricity and water at our site, and hot showers available. This is not a destination campground with sites that you...

Lovely views, clean toilets and a shower, and helpful, hardworking park hosts made this campground was a fun, comfortable home base camp for my family while we explored Rocky Mountain Natl Park and Estes Park for a couple of days. In the campground, we saw plenty of broad-tailed hummingbirds and squirrels, and the one morning I got up before my...

We have stayed here four times. We see Elk, deer and a view of Longs Peak every morning! Clean showers. Flush toilets. Electricity and water. Quiet hours are enforced. Rumor has it a moose was visiting the campground but we missed it! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable.

We reserved our campsite months ago on reservations.gov. We were assigned back in site 36. The site would have been fine if not for a tree that sagged to about four feet blocking entry. With the help of Bonnie, our camp host, we tried to back in but caught the tree and tore a gutter down spout off the roof....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
So close, yet feels so far away from the hustle and bustle of Estes Park. This very popular campground is located at an elevation of 8,300 feet at the end of a beautiful road just west of town. There are wonderful views of the snow covered peaks in Rocky Mountain National Park and access to the East Portal Reservoir which has ample opportunities for fishing. This double loop campground offers shady sites suitable for tenters and campers with small RVs and trailers shorter than 24 feet in length. It is especially well-suited for families and outdoor enthusiasts looking to explore nearby nature and trails in Rocky Mountain National Park. Sites at this campground open up to views of Rocky Mountain National Park and starry nighttime skies. A mature blend of ponderosa and lodgepole pines interspersed with groves of aspens makes it a wonderful home away from home. It is an ideal setting for guests seeking recreation and relaxation. The camping season runs from May 15th - October 3rd. ... more   less
