After having spent 3 nights with Curt and Meg 4 years ago, we'd been wanting to go back. We spent 5 nights this time, in the downstairs suite. The house is immaculate, very comfortable, and in the most wonderful location. Curt, Meg and Molly are what really make it great though. I think Curt is a natural born B&B owner....

We were looking for a B&B as close as possible to the big Red Woods and comfortable enough for an extended stay. Hiouchi is that and more! Another reviewer used the word Gem; Curt and Meg have a wonderful setting on the river and a home uniquely suited to having guests. We were provided the first floor suite with private...

Thanks Don! Appreciate the positive feedback. I wanted to pipe up and just clarify one point for readers -- the lower room you were in doesn't have a full kitchen as it doesn't have a range (though it does have a gas grill on the deck). Guests in the lower floor suite will find a small fridge, coffee maker, electric...

Looking for a restful break on a long road trip, my wife and I were delighted to discover this beautifully appointed bed and breakfast. Our ground floor guest suite was spacious but cozy and warmly decorated. The bedroom was comfortable and the walk-in shower was wonderful. And did I mention the hot-tub? Everything was spotlessly clean with everything one might...

Curt and Meg made us feel at home right away. It is right on the Smith River with a beautiful view. During our stay we saw an Eagle - what a treat. We enjoyed our talks with both Curt and Meg. Curt was also extremely helpful in navigating the area and pointing areas of interest. The morning breakfast was a...

We have spent a lot of time in the Crescent City area over the years as my husband has family in the area and we visit as often as we can. We get there about once every five years these days. Usually, we stayed with family or at a beach motel. This year, with a family reunion at a campground...

Outstanding bed and breakfast in the heart of the Redwoods. Kurt and Meg were great hosts. Helpful tips. Hearty, delicious breakfasts made with local ingredients-loved the muffins. Room was spacious, clean and we enjoyed coffee on our deck each morning with a view of the Smith River and a covered bridge. Sigh! Relaxing in the hot tub and wading in the...

My wife & I spent a couple of wonderful nights at BnB Hiouchi this June. Beautiful home in a beautiful setting; Curt & Meg were wonderful hosts. Great food and conversation--stayed up one evening sharing wine and snacks. Really nice dog Molly. Curt is well informed about trails in the area. Heartily recommend this place! Thanks Cut & Meg, Grace...

Ok, I'm not sure if I'm more shocked by the beauty of the location or the architecture of the house or the fact that 3 years ago a single reviewer only rated this amazing B&B 4 stars and not 5! Personally I think a great B&B needs location, facilities, and a restful spirit that only comes from owners who understand...

A perfect place for some R&R! Curt and Meg were fantastic hosts - warm, flexible, and accommodating. The home-cooked breakfasts in the mornings were exceptional - eggs, mushrooms, juice, amazing pineapple coconut muffins, yogurt, toast. Curt was also extremely helpful in providing personalized hiking itineraries and travel advice for future adventures. The cabin itself is located right on the banks...

On a hiking-focused road trip from Portland to San Francisco, Hiouchi seemed like an interesting stop. It turned out to be one of the most beautiful places on the whole trip. We stayed for one night, the week before Thanksgiving. Curt sent impeccable directions, we picked up a picnic for dinner and arrived around 7pm. The house has bookish 1970s...
