I stayed at a few YHA hostels as well as some other backpackers during my trip and this was the worst. I thought I knew what I was getting booking here since it was YHA, and if it was maintained and kept clean it would have been. The common areas were large, it was the biggest kitchen of any hostel...

Friendly staff. Well kept grounds. Rooms are a tad basic but clean. We opted for a room with a private bathroom for a little bit extra - would recommend if you don't want to go the 'full backpackers experience' - I'm a little pass that age! Bathroom dated but ok. Brown towels kind of freaks me out (what are they...

Had a great time at this hostel. It is quite big, but despite the number of people there it was very quiet. Plenty of kitchen space, as well as space to eat and sit around. Staff are very helpful. There is a few things for sale behind the counter, such as snacks and soft drinks, washing powder, and basic necessities....

Good overall hostel . All the potential facilities you could need. Sauna was broken at the time we visited and the hostel seemed quite cold. Bug there was the option for extra blankets of needed. Staff were friendly and helpful and it wasn't too priceeyy compared to the rest of The town which is crazy expensive even for nz.

My husband and I stayed here for one night in February, in a Private Ensuite Room. The service at this hotel was great. We called on our way up, because we would be arriving after the front desk closed. They willingly gave us the door code and left our room key out for our stay. Unfortunately a group of loud...

We stayed here for 1 night in a 10 bed dorm. The room was clean and warm and the beds were really comfy, each bed has its own reading light too. The showers were clean as was the kitchen. Unfortunately there were some very loud backpackers in a near by room drinking and being loud until at least 2am so...

We really enjoyed our stay at the YHA. Comfy bed with a well-equipped kitchen, warm clean showers and bathroom and very close to the centre of town. The double rooms were small but had everything we needed. Free WiFi too :) Disappointed about the drying room - the fuse blows regularly it seems so none of our clothes dried overnight.

Kia Ora Jemmah, Fantastic to hear you enjoyed your stay! Our drying/laundry room is programed to shut off from 10PM to 9 AM so not to disturb guests staying in the rooms next door. We have installed additional signage to the drying room to make sure guests are aware of this in the future. Best Regards Josh Bramley Hostel Manager

I stayed in a 6 bed female dorm and found the facilities were adequate. The staff at reception were very friendly and couldn't have been more helpful - a real pleasure. Kia Ora Kiwique, Great to read you enjoyed your stay, our Staff and Facilities! I am unsure about your comments about our signage for our compost bins. We have signs above the rubbish bins and sinks, advising guests to use the yellow bins below the bench's for food waste. Our signage review is to declutter the walls with pointless signs...
