This small hotel far exceed our expectations. We thought it had just been completely redecorated for the 2015 season, but it was not. It is closely located to Fox Glacier and local restaurants in the town, The breakfast was prepared by the owner, and was very good.

We had two nights here and found this to be away from the tourist feel of the township. A short 20mins walk to the main road where there are some good restaurants or a short drive to the lake where there is a superb cafe. Rooms were large, airy and clean with toiletries, tea and coffee. An excellent place to... More

We stayed here for three nights last week and we loved the peace and quiet. The whole place is immaculately neat and clean. It is a short walk to town (15 mins), and just a couple of minutes drive the other way to Lake Matheson. I'd just like to point out that High Peaks is much nearer to Lake Matheson... More

We stayed her for 1 night. It was very comfortable, spotless and the bed was very comfortable. All rooms are accessed by a common internal hallway with central heating. The television was small and very old, the little bar fridge was up on a shelf above my head. However, the room was large and comfortable and the views of snow... More

Not really a hotel, in the sense that there are no facilities such as bar, restaurant (apart from breakfast) and seemingly only one, delightful, staff member. Large room in quiet property that could do with some modernisation but is perfectly clean and adequate for a night or two. If you are looking for mid - high end accommodation then best... More

This is a gorgeous motel with fantastic views of the Glacier (even better when the weather is good). The rooms are roomy and warm and extremely clean. We always appreciate having a fridge, free wifi and guest laundry. This was our third stay and we will stay here if (when) we return to the West Coast of NZ. Marlene went... More

Hard to fault. We stayed here on a road trip around the South island. The owner was very welcoming and helpful when we arrived. The place was clean and spacious, beds were comfortable. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone coming to Fox glacier or travelling down the West coast.....and the Matthieson lake restaurant for food as well is also... More

Lovely new clean room. Nice large bathroom. Good views from the property. Nice position on the road to Lake Matheson. No cooking facilities (if that's what you are looking for). Very close to Matheson Cafe for great meals. Further out along the road away from town are some really great glacier views.

On Cook Flat Road, about 1 km along, we found Hign Peaks Hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful when we booked in. Even suggesting we visit the Fox glacier that afternoon as rain was predicted. Excellent find of a hotel. Room is large and spotless. Owners are very friendly and it is obvious that they care! A full cooked breakfast for NZ$20 was good value. Good location - Just a short drive to Fox Glacier and about half an hour from Franz Josef. (We went to both glaciers in one day. It's a longer walk... More
