A lovely forested campsite in the village. Great facilities with plenty of space in the bathrooms and kitchen. The sites are compact although very private because each is separated by trees. Efficient but officious lady on reception. A good small shop on site. Can organise transport through Roam to the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. Whakapapa is located in a stunning area...

Stayed one night in a powered campervan site. The sites are spacious and naturally divided with trees. The amenities are great, big kitchen and warm showers. Great base for exploring the national park.

We had a fabulous time here. We stayed two nights in our van to do the crossing and loved it. The staff were so helpful! Management staff were incredibly kind and helpful, made our stay so much more enjoyable. The facilities are lovely, beautiful big kitchen and clean bathrooms. Lovely location for some amazing walks but the day we went was really miserable and poured down all day. As a result the site we stayed in with our van got really muddy and we got very dirty in and around the area. Also very limited on food outlets other than daytime.

This is a beautiful campsite which is perfectly situated for hikes across the tongariro. The spaces make Evert visitor feel like they're alone in the forrest and the facilities are clean and plenty. I would definitely recommend this campsite

We car camped for a few nights to hike the Tongariro Crossing. Loved this campsite because it's scenic (there's even a neat river spot near the lounge), it's central to the hiking trails& town, and all the staff we met were really nice people. Also, free wifi,

My partner and I stayed on a tent site here for two nights during summer. The setting was absolutely superb, with tent and campervan sites nestled amongst beautiful bush. The staff were incredibly welcoming and provided us with a power cable and sleeping mats to borrow during our stay - amazing. The location is superb for the nearby walks -...

The stream nearby is a great bonus... after a 7hr walk over the Tongariro crossing, its great to be able to soak your feet in the stream, which runs behind the holiday park!! Mount Ruapehu, which is 6kms from here is great day trip... the summer snow sledding is a great bonus! Reasonably good facilities with the kitchen, toilets and...

Good facilities, friendly knowledgeable staff all there to give you some help with your visit and hiking and trekking options. Some of the sites are a little squashed, but that is because of demand. Local shops are non existent but some essentials available at camp shop. Very busy in early morning with the transfer busses to Tongariro Crossing. Good site.
