What a gorgeous place. Had a lovely couple of nights here, service was great, the room was everything we wanted and the food was very good but a tad expensive. Would go again for a special occasion. We went at the end of season for the crossing and some of the local cafe we're closed . Still had a great...

The staff at the front desk were fantastic - Jet lag was setting in and we had further to travel the next day. The areas is full of natural beauty - the location is excellent and must be fantastic in winter. The room was fine and coming back down for dinner there was someone playing piano in the background which...

Great service and location. Lots of amenities. Wonderful staff. It was the many small oversights that was problematic. We couldn't play the golf course because they didn't have golf balls - for an entire week - despite indicating otherwise on the website. Good meals but almost no salads or veggies (and reduced menu during low season). Pianist was unavailable, and...

This is my favourite building in NZ! I just love the Grand stature of the Chateau and it's old world charm. We have frequented the Chateau Tongariro many times during the Ski Season; where we enjoy après ski by the fire; often still in our ski gear, recalling a fabulous day up snowboarding at Mt Ruapehu; when meeting with friends....

Tired rooms, but beds good. Its due for a good renovation, yet this is a good "old school" icon. The food is ok, not great nor bad. The service is ok. The key with this hotel is the atmosphere and location. Its the only decent hotel between Taupo and Wellington . Its a good middle stop if traveling and worth...

Room views vary considerably so specify if you want a peek at the mountains. Our family room on the third (top) floor was fine but looked out to the village rather than the golf course as promised. Bar fridge was not working but replaced with larger mini-fridge upon request. Warmer duvets provided upon request. We left in a hurry early...

There's a history to this hotel and there's no doubt that it's in a spectacular location. It is also one of the very few accommodation in this area and that is reflected in the price. I want to love this hotel - I really do - but it needs some investment and soon before too many guests feel short-changed that...

Just perfect place to relax with tasty food, perfect service, great rooms. There are activities offered by hotel, but with so many beautiful hiking options around the things we enjoyed were restaurants, relaxing by the fireplace and enjoying evening tea by the amazing views
