The experience of La Selva Eco-lodge is not to be missed. Although many travelers visit the lodge as an add-on to any number of other Ecuadorean sites, it is a destination in its own right and can be a stand-alone vacation venue. This lodge on Lake Garzacocha of the lower Napo River can only be reached by canoe and was... More

Sure, the pictures are beautiful. But is it dangerous? And what will we do there? These were the questions we were asking when searching Amazon travel options. This review acts as a spoiler alert: we made it back alive. There was concern about taking a 45 minute flight east (and down) from Quito to Coca. As it turned out, the... More

Dear Jason, You have no idea how relieved to know you’ve made it back alive! But on a serious note, we absolutely loved your review. It was an interesting take on the entire jungle experience and you surely have a great talent in writing. Thank you so much for this wonderful review and kind remarks about our staff and guides... Every aspect of the La Selva experience was exceptional: The staff is cheerful, friendly, and helpful. We made friends very quickly. Every need is anticipated and there is great attention to detail. This began with transport to the airport (boarding passes & directions ready) and ended with accommodation in a luxury hotel on return from the lodge. Excursions were fantastic!... More

I did the stay as an add on to the Galapagos islands and am really happy we did. The rooms are nice but not city level luxury but you are in the jungle. The staff, the setting, and food are all definitely in the luxury level. I would highly recommend booking a private guide. We had Rodrigo, who is head... More

I just finished 5 days/4 nights at La Selva. I booked directly through them. From departing our quito hotel (picked up by transport from La Selva) and met at the hotel and then the transport to the lodge and out time there and transport back, each and every single staff member was100% professional, and went out of their way to... Dear Brian, Thank you for taking the time to leave such an excellent and thorough review. Much of what you wrote is right on point. Spotting wildlife in the Amazon can be tricky business, but our guides, bilingual Naturalist and local Native know what they are doing and know the jungle like the back of their hand! Animals are active... More

We have only great things to say about this beautiful lodge. It is amazing to find such luxury in the middle of the rainforest. The attention to small details like a boot jack and drying rack, waterproofing of luggage, delicious cold juices upon return from morning walks made us feel like we were being well taken care of. We learned... More
