A great place to discover the sights and sounds of the Amazon rain forest. Be sure to bring a camera with a zoom lens if possible, along with long pants and waterproof shoes. Also bring a waterproof jacket. It can get chilly in the canoes.

Cameras with extra zoom is a great tip! Often times it is hard to get up close to wildlife due to their shyness. Of course plants, flowers and many insects won’t just up and runaway! But if you need advice while on an excursion, our guides are pretty handy with cameras since they find themselves on the trail for the...

The lodge is a must visit for a trip to Ecuador. Spend the extra money for the private guide. More than worth the expense. Food was extremely good. Want to go back. Wildlife sighting was unbelievable.

Dear Muriel, Thank you so much for your review! Hiring a private guide is always a great choice when you have specific interests such as bird watching, or if you are an avid photographer or would like to have more leisurely excursions. Either way, our guides are experts in leading both private tours and working with groups. Thank you so...

We so enjoyed La Selva. The resort was comfortable and secluded, simple yet sophisticated and thoughtfully supplied and catered. Our guide, Rodrigo, was the best....unmatchable in skill (he could find an animal in the pitch dark from 200 meters away) knowledge and enthusiasm. A great experience.

Hi Alice, so glad you enjoyed La Selva and Rodrigo’s incredible talents! Isn’t it so amazing that they can see everything so easy, they are definitely your eyes and ears out in the jungle. With-out our incredible talented guides, many of our guests would think the Amazon Rainforest was void of wildlife! Thanks again! La Selva

We were pleasantly surprised after a 2 hour boat ride down the Napo Riner to find such a lovely place. The atmosphere created by arriving by canoe, being paddled not by a motor boat, set the stage for a wonderful holiday.

It is lovely to hear that you enjoyed the complete experience of arriving to La Selva. We have done our best to make the journey as comfortable as possible and in the most genuine way, just like real Amazonian locals. It really does set the stage making your way down the Napo River, then walking through primary forest where our...

Our guide was fantastic ! The food delicious and in general attention to detail was good . Our water was not hot a couple of times and the masseur , while being really good , was very expensive. The walking was fascinating and I especially liked the tower we climbed to the tops of the trees

We loved the lodge and our accommodations. Especially enjoyed the "night sounds" . Our guide, David, was knowledgable and very helpful. Food was excellent. All of the staff members were helpful and pleasant. The masseuse was superb. His name eludes be but he is Cuban and has excellent technique.

La Selva is a thrilling experience. The Lodge is just remote enough to have a feeling of adventure and yet the choreographed experience is pleasurable and safe. The Lodge makes a great effort to provide an upscale resort experience with a small foot print in an ecologically sensitive area, balanced with the desires of the indigenous peoples. Overall it is...

We really loved everything about La Selva...from the time we started our boat trip from Coca to our final return. Let's start at the beginning...the boat trip. We arrived at the Coca airport & crammed into a little room waiting for a very manual baggage system! But there's only one exit, so we easily found our transfer guide. They take...

I had an amazing time here, but I hesitate giving 5 stars because there is still some room for improvement. I would definitely recommend this lodge for someone wanting to see the Amazon while not "roughing it". Most of the activities and views were as expected based on prior research on TripAdvisor and the La Selva website. Our guides Dan...

The experience of La Selva Eco-lodge is not to be missed. Although many travelers visit the lodge as an add-on to any number of other Ecuadorean sites, it is a destination in its own right and can be a stand-alone vacation venue. This lodge on Lake Garzacocha of the lower Napo River can only be reached by canoe and was...
