Sorry for the late review - I went there with my wife last April and we found the place outstanding. The people, the nature, the animals, the surroundings are astonishing. As human beings, our call is to preserve that small heaven on earth and I reckon that a good way is to promote sustainable tourism. I very much recommend this...

Not sure what our expectations were but they were surpassed. The journey from Quito was awesome, the lodge itself was perfect, our guides were friendly, professional and incredibly knowledgeable, and all the staff were great. Meeting the local communities was a touching experience we won't forget, and of course the jungle itself is spectacular. The journey back to civilisation served...

We have been to the Amazon before, but this was a completely different experience. With a local guide, we learned all about a whole different world. We tried the blow gun and the spear, but the real point is that there are people who still live this way and it is amazing! We visited three villages where they had products...

We would highly recommend this trip, from which we have just returned and which we added to our original itinerary (Galapagos and the Andean highlands) and which gave us a valuable and educational third section to our journey. Our knowledgeable, capable and fun guide Christina met us at our hotel and stayed with us until we reached Quito airport on...

Our trip in March was excellent! We read all the Trip Advisor reviews right up until we left and had spent a lot of time imagining the trip. It was EVEN BETTER than we expected, which surprised us as we had built it up quite a bit. Roberto Mino was our English speaking guide, and Bai was our Huaorani guide....

The visit to Huaorani Eco-Lodge was an unmatched cultural experience. Even the trip to the lodge was quite an experience in itself: a scenic road first to Banos and then to Shell, followed by an awesome flight over the sea of green in a cute five-passenger plane, followed by a no less scenic boat ride. We made a stop at...

I had done an amazon rainforest lodge before in Peru! which was also great! but this one was fantastic. With such a small group, ( there were a total of 8 guests, maximum would be 10) you really did feel like you are in a remote, non touristy rainforest lodge, because you are. All the staff was exceptional, our English...

This was an incredible opportunity to learn about ways of being and thinking that are vastly different from the ways most of us in developed countries have ever experienced. Go now if you are able as time is changing these people forever. We had some glitches in out trip and if you go you must be prepared to adapt as...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Stay in an eco-lodge situated at the headwaters of the Amazon and run by the Huaorani, one of the most isolated ethnic groups on earth: first contacted by the outside world only 55 years ago, they speak a language that is unrelated to any other. You’ll learn to use a blowgun, hear their leader relate the tribe’s fight against oil exploration, and take a two-day meander down the Shiripuno River in kayaks, watching for tropical birds and monkeys.Highly Commended -The Virgin Holidays Responsible Travel Award 2009 and 2010Best Company in Innovation 2010 - LATATrips of a Lifetime award by Travel & Leisure 2010Best Sustainable Tourism Project 2008 and 2009 - LATABest Adventure Travel Companies on Earth by National Geographic 2009 ... more   less

“All the rooms are good rooms, and are assigned before you arrive. There are only 5 lodges, with the first and fifth a bit more apart from the middle ones. The 5th one is nearest the dining lodge and hammock hut.”

“We had cabin 4, which was fine. The only other guests there had lodge 5, which they charmingly referred to as 'le cabin d'amour'. It was closer to the river and the trees. They had some interesting evening guests which the staff helped guide on their way. Just remember to check your shoes, shake your clothes and check your bed. Or use another cabin,”
