This is a fabulous place for birdwatchers. It is very quiet, since it is outside of town on a little used road. The rooms are clean and comfortable, with lounges to hang out and drink coffee or tea. The food for people is wonderful - among the best we have had in Ecuador. And many species of hummingbirds and tanagers...

The Reserva Las Gralarias is nestled in the cloud forest near Mindo. I stayed there with three friends for seven days in the lovely, comfortable guest house. We went out each day with our guide, Marcelo and our driver, Milton to explore the region finding a glorious array of birds. Our accommodations were superb: each room had comfortable beds and...

We spent a wonderful week at Reserva las Gralarias. We stayed with our friends in the comfortable 3-bedroom house. The bedrooms had little space heaters and were quite comfortable. Our days were spent productively bird-watching with our guide, Marcelo, and driver, Milton. When we returned, Marcelo lit a fire in the fireplace and we relaxed before dinner. Javier's meals were...

The highlight of this lodge are the hummingbird feeders, which are spectacular. We also saw tanagers and guans and a tayra because the lodge leaves out a lot of bananas to attract them. The forest around the lodge is a little disappointing. It was a former cow pasture and it's regenerating, but there's not much old growth and not a...

This is an interesting lodge – somewhat out of the way and quiet. Excellent for birders. The hummingbird feeders here were very active. .and there are a LOT of them. For birdwatchers/photographers this can be a fun place. We also had regular visits to the bananas of tanagers and toucan barbets. The lodge itself has spacious common rooms, nice areas...

This was billed as a premier birding lodge in the cloud forest and whereas the bird guiding was great other facilities were lacking. The food was basic and some meals were rather poor standard. The accommodation was OK given that one is in the cloud forest but would have appreciated some heating in the room to clear the damp. If...

As part of our birding trip to Ecuador we booked a two day trip with Mindo Bird Tours and stayed at Las Gralarias. The owner, Jane Lyons, was prompt to reply to all my preliminary emails and the trip worked just as planned. We were picked up in Quito at our hotel by Mauricio and taken to Las Gralarias, birding...

I visited in August 2014 without a tour group. The lodge itself is simple, well-appointed and modern and makes a great alternative to some of the mainstream birding lodges like Tandayapa and Bellavista. Be aware that much of the area nearby is regenerating pasture, but the birding even here is very good- and there is primary forest nearby. There are...

I spent almost a week staying and birding at Las Gralarias, with some day trips to other hot spots. It turned out to be a very comfortable base for just relaxing and viewing the multitude of hummingbirds at the feeders and the regular visits of tanagers to the fruit feeders. Velvet-purple Coronets battled with Violet-tailed Sylphs and Buff-tailed Coronets for...

What a wonderful experience seeing the beautiful countryside and birds of Ecuador. Our stay of 8 days at the Reserva Las Gralarias was exceptional. Dusan had us searching for birds from pre dawn to dusk every day, and we saw many endemic and rare species including the Umbrella bird, cock of the rock, and Yellow-breasted Antpita. Rooms were comfortable with...
