The property itself is stunning. It is what you would expect of a 5-Star Resort. Their pool area is awesome. Swim-up Grotto Bar (with excellent drinks and awesome bartenders!), poolside cafe/bistro; and the pool area is large enough that it never feels packed, despite hundreds...More
This is a fantastic property. We loved all the swimming pools connected by the lazy river, and my 5 y.o. son's favorite thing in all of Maui was the keiki club at Grand Waielea. We parents loved the keiki club, too - we even had...More

The Grand Wailea has the best pools of any resort I've ever stayed. The staff is friendly and efficient and the beach is fantastic. You are walking distance to more than 6 very good restaurants on top of the excellent food at the resort

We stayed four nights at this hotel. The price is the top 2 hotels in Maui, but the service is not matching the price. We went to Vocano restaurant on the second day. We’ve been waiting over 20 minuets to have a waiter to talk...More

This 5 star resort did not disappoint. Located on the quieter side of Maui, everything was perfect! The sunsets and sunrises cant be beat on Maui. The pool was huge and the waves at the adjacent beach were calm. Great place for families. Just a...More

I completely agree with the last answer. You do not want to be riding bikes in this area. The topography is not great for casual biking and there are just not bike paths. We own several condos across the street from the GW at the Ho'olei Resort and we do not offer bikes either. If you are a serious rider, I would recommend you rent a road or mountain bike in upcountry Makawao. The area has some great mountain bike paths and/or experienced riders enjoy riding up to the crater.

The rooms have been upgraded and it is nice to get one with an ocean view but if you are not one to stay in the room, I would just go with the best rate. I have been in rooms that are not that convenient and can be a long walk to certain areas. If this is a concern, I would call the hotel and voice your concerns so they put you in the best choice for the option you decide on.
