This place is awesome. From the valet to the checkin with Daisy nothing could have been better. As a Hilton Diamond they upgraded my room. The property is amazing and so are the people. If you are a Diamond member they have a great happy hour. Oh the people are great. This is why you visit Hawaii!
I think this was our 5th or 6th stay at the Grand Wailea and it was perfect This hotel is always our last stop on our Maui trip for good reason....we have the absolute best experience here every time. From pulling up to that gorgeous entrance way, the friendly and courteous bell staff, the professional front desk staff, and that wonderful lobby! We were upgraded to a room in the Napua Concierge section. Possibly because we have stayed so many times? Possibly because it was our 30th wedding anniversary? Maybe because they were at COVID occupancy? Whatever the reason, we LOVED the lounge area and our beautiful room. Continental breakfast was served each morning by the most gracious staff. Late afternoon had an array of appetizers and alcoholic drinks along with cookies, and other sweet treats. The staff at this lounge is top notch! The bartender will remember your favorite drinks from the very fist night! Armi, who worked as a server in the lounge area, was always available with a smile and first class service keeping the friendly conversation and professional service at 5 star level. The resort, while at a low occupancy, is staffed by the best of the best! We were greeted warmly by each and every employee who crossed our path. They appear to be taking every possible precaution for cleanliness with signs, rules for distancing, and masks. The grounds are just beautiful. The landscaping is very well done, and the pool area is worth spending the entire week enjoying! The current pool requirements are that you request your seat location starting the afternoon before your pool day. This was done easily and effortlessly. The pool staff is running at an all time quality high and keeping each and every guest comfortable and relaxed. I have never encountered a more helpful and sincere pool staff at another hotel. One day we asked to change our seat location mid day and it was done with smiles and a helpful staff member bringing all new towels to the new seat. Another time my husband lost his cell phone thinking it got tossed in with the used towels...one of the staff members searched to the bottom of the wet towel bin without a complaint..EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE!! The food offerings are a bit limited as the hotel is at covid capacity levels, but the Bistro Molokini was open for business as usual and the perfect spot for lunch when you need a break from the sun. Lunch was staffed with a group of servers that has been there over our many years of returning trips...great to see them all working and happy to be there!... Breakfast and dinner are also offered here. There are plenty of restaurants within a short distance at neighboring hotels that you can reserve on OpenTable and walk or Uber. Take out is available from the coffee shop off the lobby with all kinds of breakfast lunch and dinner offerings. This is also a great grab and go spot. A few of the lobby shops are open and the others are offering shopping by appointment. Staff is happy to see you and assist in any purchases. Water sports are available so you may rent a kayak, a paddle board, snorkel equipment and other items right at the beach. If you are at all concerned about traveling right now, please forget your worries. The hotel looks and is performing as a smoothly run machine. The staff that is working is grateful that you are there and will continually tell you so. The guests are following the distance and masking rules. Testing and traveling may seem cumbersome, but you will be rewarded with an amazing stay at this picture perfect resort. Hats off and a huge THANK YOU!! to the entire staff for making our trip and our anniversary the best yet!…
My husband and I just went for 4 nights over Valentines/Presidents day weekend and it was our favorite stay on Maui yet! You feel like you have the hotel to yourself. There are no children running around. No lines of people. No wait for elevators. It’s magical. The property is as stunning as ever, and the service is top notch. Pool service was great, and reserving pool chairs the day before was never an issue. We love the location of the Grand Wailea- you can easily walk to the Four Seasons (make reservations at Ferraro’s and Spago, you won’t be disappointed), as well at the shops at Wailea (for morning coffee or afternoon shoppings, as well as restaurants). There is a great ocean front path in front of the property that goes in both directions for easy accessibility to everything. We went whale watching one day in Lahaina. Spent an afternoon walking around Paia. This is the time to visit Maui, when you have the place to yourself! Thank you Grand Wailea! …
You can trust Grand Wailea with your cherished Hawaiian vacation. They have figured it out on all levels to ensure that every member of your group will have a truly wonderful experience. You can certainly feel the warmth of their staff as they live up to Hawaii's legendary hospitality and were always willing to help however possible. Their pools are a treat for all ages. The youngsters will love the smaller slides, the teens and adults will have a great time with the bigger slides, which turned out to be an unexpected thrill. They have an adult pool that was quite the respit for us when we got the chance to enjoy it (three kids under the age of four). Also, everyone will appreciate the lazy river and the beach Grand Wailea has to offer. There's no hotel we would rather stay at.…
Day 6 into a 7 day trip. This was during the pandemic. For being a full service resort, this place is far from it, and I get that a lot of services have to be curtailed in the name of safety. The good: The yoga instructors were excellent. 1) On arrival, to park the car, there was an insistence on it being placed in the care of valet, even though self-park was an option. In the time of the pandemic? I'd rather not. Thankfully once I received my room key I was able to come and go as I pleased. 2) With regards to parking, 4 days into the trip, I received a note on the windshield of my car, saying (in a nice way) if I don't present to the valet station, I'll be towed. Not a single person had explained the whole "you need to register your car" bit prior to this. Again, maybe during the pandemic, and the lateness at which I checked in (around 9 PM), this got overlooked. 3) Two days after I got here, I requested to borrow a luggage cart to transport some of my purchases made that day. I was told I'd have to have someone escort me to my room. In a pandemic with social distancing being touted all throughout the hotel? No thanks--I carried my purchases up in hand. - Then again, if you fit the right demographic, this will be overlooked as I was to witness a few days later. 4) Poolside seating. To get a poolside seat, you have to log into a website at 1600 the day before, enter your reservation confirmation number, and not wait more than 2 minutes after 1600 because by then all the decent seats are gone. - Your options then are to wait til 1100 the next day to see if anyone had not claimed their chair, or if anyone had been gone from their chair for more than an hour. - Rightly so, they've spaced the chairs out at the pool to maintain social distancing. However, this has diminished the numbers available. Even on the busier days (when I heard one of the attendants tell someone that the hotel was at 32% capacity), nothing was available - Unless you were willing to wait in line for half an hour to even get your mandatory daily wrist band (which is supposed to indicate that you're a valid guest at the hotel), to even check on the availability of a seat opening up. - The good part about all this is that beach seating is readily available. Again, there is still the wait and check in at the activities desk (which on busier days can take half an hour of waiting). But this is only available until 1600 (for some reason this is a magical number at this place). 5) Breakfast. Don't bother. There's only one place available on-site, and it's a take away cafe. The diamond benefit does get you $20 per person per day here, which doesn't get you more than a pre-made smoothie/fruit and a coffee. - On the busier days, it was half an hour to wait in line to place an order. An additional 15-20 minutes to actually get your order. 6) Food. At other times of the day, only options available are the takeaway place mentioned for breakfast as well as the poolside dining area. Humuhumu is closed due to the pandemic, as is all room service. The menu for the poolside dining area is rather basic, and options beyond applebee's-eque fare don't exist if you're vegetarian/vegan/gluten-free. - Thankfully, there is the Island Gourmet Market at the Shops at Wailea which has a decent set of options, if you're willing to walk outside the resort for a few minutes. 7) Diamond benefit: No lounge to speak of. - An upgrade to an ocean view room was offered, though I didn't see how it was different from the other rooms that were actually open for use (I think this was by default). - At check in, there was no discussion of any other room types being available to upgrade to, even on a paid basis. - If you're related to Chad or Karen, you might do better in this arena as I noticed while waiting at the front desk and witnessing someone else being checked in who was also a Diamond member. - I couldn't tell if the lei greeting was gone due to the pandemic. (Although they were on a rack at the front desk, none were offered. It wasn't the most welcoming feeling seeing them on other people on other days who had just checked in.)…
