If you have a couple of very active elementary school aged children, and you wear a backward facing baseball hat, and you and your SO are well tattooed, a bit overweight, and wear tank tops to dinner, you will feel very at home at the Grand Wailea.
Great stay. Due to Covid- much was closed including their signature restaurant. But the luau was on and amazing!!! It made up for the rest! Smaller crowd- spaced out and an incredible show, food and service. The beach is awesome. Low waves and amazing night walks while tide is low. The pool is nice and loved the chair reservation so that you knew you had chairs and didn’t have to get up early to reserve. And after a certain point/ are open again if unclaimed. Bummed the water elevator and swim up bar closed due to Covid. But the pools and slides were all open and very enjoyable. The dive pool was open and active! The ambiance and grounds of this resort are beautiful. Close to many things- drove to the top of the mountain, road to Hana and more. Many resorts, restaurants and boutique shops nearby.…
The Grand Wailea was everything I expected from an upscale resort. We had a deluxe ocean view room which had a generous size, a nice bathroom with a water closet, and a small bar area. Although the property is slightly dated, it is undergoing an on-going renovation to fix that, but it might impact your stay. This is one of the first hotels I've been to that really earns its resort fee by including chairs and an umbrella for the beach (just be sure to go before 9:30 am if you want a spot). We didn't have any problem getting shaded lounge chairs around the pool during our stay. As for the pool itself, it's a real treat and will bring out the kid in you! The on-site restaurants are good, but not great. Humu Humu was pretty good for breakfast though. Highly recommend making reservations well in advance for the restaurants at the adjacent Four Seasons or the Shops at Wailea, which are easily accessible from the beach path or sidewalks. Would definitely recommend this resort for an indulgent getaway.…
Had a great time at the resort! We did not drive around Maui much and chose to spend most of the time in the resort! It had many options to entertain the kids! Would go back if in Maui again! CheckIn to CheckOut process was an amazing experience! Loved the kid centric activities and options!
I would give it five stars, but there was several things closed during our stay do to construction which could have been done the previous 12 months while they were empty due to COVID? The staff was excellent and very helpful. The property and rooms were clean. The food at the restaurants was good. It is a great location right on the beach with a nice long paved walking trail and it is next door to the Shops at Wailea which gives additional dining options and of course shopping. The spa was open, but the service was in one of the hotel rooms instead of the spa itself which was very strange takes away from the full spa experience. The rooms were a nice size with a great view of the ocean. It is a large resort, but not too large that you get tired walking around it or to the restaurants. We attended some events on the property while we were there and they were nice with good food. As I mentioned earlier, staff was friendly, helpful and never seemed rushed. We look forward to staying there again.…
