Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.

Beautiful location, but we arrived as part of a large (several hundred room) group and were told rooms were pre assigned, but since we extended 3 additional days they had a great room for us. We were put in (0036), which did have an ocean view, but was also directly across from a major construction project (spa renovation). Imagine enjoying a morning on the beautiful beach or by the pool In the hot sun, and going back to rest and relax before getting ready for evening events…only to have jackhammers right across the hall! They did agree to move us to another room (this one could not see the water from the bed) that was quiet. The hassle of having to pack up a weeks worth of belongings to move was a major pain! And the second room, while quiet, had a bed that made you feel like you were rolling off the low side….no way we were packing up again so just endured that for the rest of our “dream vacation”.

Hotel's Favourite
Where to begin. This is an over the top exceptional resort. They have more than 5 pools -I lost count. There’s an adult pool, a lazy river, a 2 story slide, a Tarzan rope swing, and more. There’s a wing dedicated to beautiful shops on the resort grounds. The Shops at Wailea are across the street. There’s many choices for food, snacks, drinks, ice cream etc. The team working the valet hustles. I have not waited more than 5 min for my car yet and the hotel is currently at capacity. The hotel has fireworks at 9pm that are amazing on certain evenings. Definitely check this place out and check out the deals they offer.

The hotel grounds and rooms are great, however the service could be improved. The spa needs to be updated and is tucked away in a retail outlet. They wanted to charge us for guests coming to visit us and visit the spa (which they paid for).

Best in Maui! The overall experience is grand - from the service, the hotel, the rooms, the pools, the restaurants, beach access, and access to other hotels and shopping (walking distance from both). The customer service is unsurpassed: all are kind, friendly, and accommodating. The hotel is by far the most beautiful, no photo or video can do it justice. The pools are the best on the island, with countless pools, slides, lazy river, and swim up bar. The entire experience was impeccable and we had so much fun! The hotel experience made this a trip of a lifetime! I read a lot of complaints regarding the construction, but we hardly noticed or were bothered by it. I would not let this deter you from staying here.

I was nervous to book this hotel after reading the terrible reviews. I booked anyway and glad I did. The hotel is undergoing renovations but it did not effect our stay. The pool complex is great for kids, my son had a blast at the Tarzan swing and all of the slides. The grounds are gorgeous and they offer a lot of activities for guests. We had no issues with the staff being rude as stated in other reviews, in fact everyone was helpful and kind. We had a renovated ocean front suite , it was spacious and clean and had a beautiful view of the grounds and ocean. All of the restaurants were open except one. The pool bar is open until 5:30 with full service until then, another reviewer said 4 on which is not true. They also acknowledged my husbands diamond status and gave us a nice upgrade , again another reviewer had a negative experience with that , our experience was positive. The resort food and drinks are in fact very expensive, but it's a Waldorf Astoria brand in Maui... pretty much expected. Hawaii isn't a budget friendly vacation if that is what you are looking for. I will definitely come again , my 7 year old son is already booking next years trip back!

Still can't believe just finished this fantastic anniversary trip at W=A Grand Wailea! Everything was perfect and staff was extremely nice and professional. Kid loves the water park and slides, and we all love the beach. Will definitely come back again. There are some constructions going on near the pool, but the majority of the hotel rooms are not impacted, at least from Napua tower I can't hear anything noise. I also read upthread about the resort is quite expensive, but this post-Covid, and this is Maui. I personally don't think it is outrageously pricy within the hotel.

the good -bed was comfortable -air conditioning worked -housekeeping was amazing and cleaned the room well -getting beach chairs was easy -the grounds of the hotel are well taken care of outside the bad -no status recognition or upgrade for diamond member despite asking. Asked for a high floor and didn't get it. Really I guess my status means nothing. -the people at the front desk were at times hostile and unfriendly. i don't think they should be working in a customer facing role if they don't like doing it. Makes me question why I give my money to Hilton. -breakfast is expensive for $60 per person but was good. even found out I could order waffles one day. -if you get placed in the chapel building you might be hearing noises of the luau and the trucks bringing things for setting up and take down after. Part of my view included all of their setup stuff for the meals. -prices of other meals were insane so ended up eating elsewhere -the valet parking is $65 per day -ongoing construction -I asked for late checkout and was denied. Again my diamond status means nothing. Overall the property was OK. However, I would not stay here again. I feel like my Diamond status is worthless/meaningless and am leaving Hilton after this month. Going back to Marriott. (I have stayed at other WA internationally such as the one in Cabo - that one is AMAZING and is 10000000% superior compared to this one.)

First and foremost, the staff is wonderful. Everyone is very friendly and will go out of their way to help and make you feel welcome. A few things...... we've been here before and our family has as well. In the late 90s/early 2000s this was the pinnacle of a luxury resort on Maui. It's not been updated since. It has a terribly outdated Miami Vice look and feel. It does have a much nicer grounds than the Four Seasons or surrounding resorts though....it just feels stuck in time. They are updating which means lots and lots of construction everywhere. Several of the restaurants were closed. Be prepared for construction noise during the day. You'll also want to ask if they are hosting any large events during your stay. There was a large corporate event during ours. They were great but can take up much of the open space and pool area, etc. The cost of everything at the hotel is prohibitively expensive. This is not unusual for a WA or for Hawaii in general but they seem to kick it up a notch. $27 glasses of mid-level wine and $32 bland burger is a bit much. The food is not fantastic. We had sushi at the lobby bar and it was just average....... The breakfast buffet is good with plenty of options but it's also $60 pp. The rest of the restaurant food was blah and very expensive. We dined at Humu twice and the price did not match the quality or portions. You are better off going to the shopping center next door.

Follow everyone schedule or you won’t get a chair on the beach or a drink at your chair by the pool after 4pm. You’re on your own at the end of the day… otherwise a nice place where you can pay for and get some of the finest things in life. Lovely people!

We had truly exceptional service throughout our stay and it made all the difference on our honeymoon. The beach is gorgeous-- soft sand, small waves, and the hotel is right on it. The pools are incredible, we had so much fun on all the water slides and loved the Grotto bar inside the cave. What a dream spot and true luxury experience! We loved the Napua lounge-- excellent drinks, appetizers, and breakfast. Faye was a true superstar making every effort to make our experience as wonderful as possible! I can't recommend this property enough for the quintessential Hawaii experience.
