The hotel sits adjacent to 101 - on a sliver of waterfront in Mill Valley. It’s a good location and the rooms are quaint and nice. The only reason for the 4 stars vs 5 was the first room we were in. It had pizza stains on the Celing in the room. Yup Yep, you heard it right pizza on the ceiling but the front desk staff was very apologetic and they gave us a different room. All worked out just fine the hotels been great.
Great location for visiting Bay Area. Only a few minutes drive into San Francisco and excellent access to Muir Woods National Park. Some of the best free breakfast served I have experienced. Hotel is lined up against the 101 fwy, though they have taken efforts to minimize the noise. I was positioned in room 213, one of the rooms closest to the freeway and the noise was tolerable based on the price I paid. If it were at a higher price-point, I would then have an issue. I also came during a major storm pattern that occurred over the weekend. The howling wind coming off the water will cause more noise than the fwy. Staff was very friendly and courteous and greeted you every time you passed one. Enjoyed the tea and coffee bar that was always available and did visit the wine and cheese bar, which had a nice assortment of cheese, fruits, crackers and various wines. My only wish is that they would provide some potatoes Or hash browns for the breakfast buffet. Plenty of eggs, sausage, bacon, pastries, cereals, etc, but no potatoes? Kinda felt like a sandwich without the bread. Not sure if that was an active choice, but could easily replace the spinach frittata if that was a cost decision. Obviously this is splitting hairs over the hot breakfast offer. You can also rent bikes for free, however I did not utilize due to the weather. I will definitely consider this location again as a travel hub when visiting the Bay Area again. Safe location and well positioned to many tourist locations and towns.…
This property is perfect on so many levels. 1) They accept dogs and have a perfect area for walking her. 2) It is very easy to go to the City. 3) Great breakfast buffet in a gorgeous roof top location. 4) Friendly staff ...thx, Tamara. 4) Lovely room with a view and free parking 5) Bird watching from my patio. 5) Environmentally friendly with recycling in room and wall mount shampoo, etc. instead of little plastic bottles.
Beautiful room, situated on a lovely inlet (Richardson Bay) and views of Mt. Tamalpais. Our room was very spacious, tall ceilings, a sitting area and maybe the biggest bathroom I’ve ever seen (bigger than some rooms in NYC or London) Everything felt new, fresh and comfortable. Simple but tasteful decor. Soft towels, soft sheets, nice toiletries! I do have to mention the Wi-Fi never connected so that’s a drag, the water pressure was weak and took a long time to heat up and the bed, wayyyyy too soft but those things are minor. Let’s jump to breakfast tho, WOW. Quite the spread, lots of options, from eggs, bacon & sausage to cereal, bagels and waffles. Fresh fruit, good coffee, juice and muffins. Very nice, all in all, would stay here again.
Comfy bed. quiet grounds. Seating area in room by the door which was nice to be seperate from the bed. huge selection for breakfast and extended hours. Shower clean. Patio led to courtyard that overlooked Richardson Bay.
Great location and room. Tremendously helpful and pleasant staff. Would rate it a 5 star experience if not for the uncomfortable feeling that comes from management requiring all the employees to mask. Hotel also doubles down by posting signs requiring masks on all customers. To our knowledge there is still no well controlled study that proves deflecting a portion of normal breath sideways does anything important beyond hiding smiles. The young healthy men at desk were behind a tall plastic wall reminiscent of a tenderloin currency booth. Will elevate up to 5 stars when they finally remove the barriers and masks that divide staff from guests.
I have wanted to visit Acqua Hotel in Mill Valley for several years and finally had an opportunity to do so last week. It was a lovely, memorable experience. From the generous and classy evening wine and cheese reception to the fresh and plentiful breakfast, Acqua Hotel ranked high among my hotel experiences. A special shout-out to the breakfast attendants who kept food items and beverages replenished. It made the excellent food [bacon, chicken mango sausages, veggie frittata, beautiful fresh fruit among the options] and beautiful setting even more special.
They're trying to make a luxury hotel from an old building, and it works in places, not in others. Overall, though, it's a nice place. I'm not sure it's worth the price (yes, even in the Bay Area), but it's nice enough. The location is a bit weird, and very loud on the freeway, but the water makes up for it a bit.
We LOVED this hotel! We decided to stay in Mill Valley rather than in San Francisco for our recent trip and it was DEFINITELY the right decision! We did a day trip into the city and we got to Fisherman’s Wharf in 18 minutes, but during our stay we felt so safe, had free car parking and enjoyed the beautiful setting which we wouldn’t have got in the city. We loved having Muir woods, the bay and lots of restaurants on our doorstep, it was so easy to get around. This hotel is in the perfect location. Breakfast was really good and we enjoyed the cheese and wine evening reception on the gorgeous patio overlooking the bay. The hotel has 5 bikes which you can use which we enjoyed taking out around the bay. The room was lovely, the bed was so comfy. Yes, the hotel is right next to the freeway but we could not hear the road at all from our room and we were right on the end of the corridor. Wish we had this location in the UK, we would be spending many weekends away in this location. Would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a hotel near San Francisco ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️…
We loved our stay at Acqua in Mill Valley! It was a lovely Zen-like hotel just across the bridge from San Francisco and it was an excellent base for exploring Muir Woods, Sausalito, Berkeley and San Francisco (we did them all!). The staff was the most friendly that I have encountered- we had our small dog with us and they were super kind and accommodating. Our room was clean and comfortable, the breakfast was perfect and the path around the lake was lovely.. An excellent value - we will be back!
