The location of this Inn is just perfect for exploring Muir Woods and Mt. Tamalpais which is just what we wanted. There really isn't anywhere else to stay in this location and be so close to the natural wonders of this place. The Inn itself dates from the 1890s and has been refurbished all the way. I wish I had...

Thanks to Trip Advisor I have 54,000 people reading my reviews, the majority are favorable, and I am a serial world traveller, this place is beautifully situated and run without any care for guests. Its dirty, managment reply "its worked for 20 years" when they give you the wrong doorbell entrance code time and time again. The redeeming factor is...

The setting of the Mountain Home Inn is spectacular. The view is the Inn’s chief attraction. The rooms appear in desperate need of a deep clean and renovation: water stains, peeling paint, worn upholstery & carpeting, a multi-plug for electrical (which turned on TV & lights at same time), and mechanical noise, etc. The housekeeping staff would seem hard pressed...

We flew into San Francisco. It was an easy 45 minute drive here after visiting Fishermans Wharf. We had a lovely room with an awesome view, a great meal and breakfast. No complaints....staff was very congenial and our room was clean and the views AMAZING

Mountain Home Inn (MHI) reminds me of those waterfront restaurants that have the monopoly on the view - they revel in the view, skimp on the service, and become the market for the itinerant tourist. To be fair, the service in the restaurant is actually quite nice. As it is in the bar as well. And the staff, in general,...

Pros: Very close to muir woods trailheads, very cozy cabins like rooms, not lavish but very comfortable with above average quality duvets, amazing water pressure, food and bar on premises of at or above average quality (great selections throughout). Polite and friendly staff all around. Handicap parking and elevator. Cons: 13 or so rooms/6 parking spots. High demand parking area....

We only went to the restaurant, so no knowledge of the accommodations. We parked across the highway and sat outside overlooking the bay on a sunny afternoon. Spectacular views. We had the cheese platter and chicken sandwich. Perfect light combo before embarking on a 4 hour hike. The cheese platter was a tad on the small side (a bit overpriced...

We visited for a friends wedding staying 3 nights. Our first room was downstairs and we quickly learned that the view we hoped for was not as great as we'd have hoped. The first night was sold out and we were unable to change, but the manager changed our rooms without an upgrade charge and moved us to a quaint...

The people we interacted with at Mountain Home Inn all went above and beyond the call of duty. My wife and I stayed for a weekend. We didn't catch the name of the guy who seemed to be the manager/server in the mornings but he would do little things that really were memorable. When we asked for a bottle of...

The food was great, the view was wonderful. Close to hiking trails, but positioned so that you start your hike walking downhill and end it walking uphill on the return. The property is tired and tatty. Looks like its heyday was 1985. The carpets were dirty, the bathroom fixtures corroded, the tile cracked, and the grout cracked and icky, with...
