The best choice for us for 3 days considering location parking room and price was Muir Wood Lodge in Mill Valley. The young man at the front desk was outstanding very nice and flexible with all we needed. We actually stayed one week he respect our original rate/day when booked online, he matched the price and allows to stay longer. The service ladies answered immediately to all our request. Like extra towels or extra coffee etc We felt very comfortable. We walked across the street to a good restaurant and another is just next to the hotel. The weather was horrible those days but as soon as in our room warm and safe we really enjoy this place.
Nothing fancy but also nothing missing. The room is clean and has everything that you need for a night's stay. The rooms are easily accessible from the parking lot. Check-in and checkout was also very easy.
Very convenient for travelers. Free parking. Close to Muir Woods National Monument. Clean large room, bathroom and amenities. The hotel sign was not lightened so a bit difficault to see at night. Otherwise, great value for money.
Clean simple room, very comfortable bed and best of all, no perfumes or air fresheners to pollute the air! I find that most hotels use cheap, highly fragranced cleaning and laundry products which I hate! This hotel is clean and fragrance free. Get a room facing the back of the hotel and you will not hear any traffic noise. It's not an attractive location, but if you just need a place to sleep, it's very good.
The outside of Muir Woods Lodge does it few favours. It's a not-very-pleasant colour (though I suspect recently re-painted). But the rooms are large, and clearly recently re-decorated in a pleasant manner. At the price paid for this room, it was great value for money when you don't need to lie by a pool or eat a typical not-very-good hotel breakfast ... (no breakfast included - but that was not an issue IMO).
Not too much noise and clatter from the floor above. Bed and bath linens were clean and room well-kept. TV functioned well and I was able to fall to sleep peacefully. Shower was hot and had great pressure in the morning.
This lodge is only minutes away from Muir Woods, our destination for the day, so it was very convenient. Room was clean and spacious for our party of 3. We were not in the room very long, no more than 12 hours so the road noise did not bother us. Nice to have the refrigerator and microwave. Less than 30 minutes from Muir Beach too, we had a nice evening for dinner and a walk on the beach.
We booked this hotel because it was near our friend’s wedding site and the other two hotels close by were next to the freeway (lots of traffic noise, which I’ll get to). The location is very convenient and central to our activities. The hotel itself is average looking but looks like it’s mostly maintained well enough. The staff in the lobby were very friendly. We had room 201 on the second floor so it’s the farthest one to get to which meant we had to navigate stairs, walkways, corners etc. plus an inordinate amount of trip hazards. I could imagine less able folks tripping and falling if they aren’t careful. The room looked nicely updated, the bed was comfortable and the A/C worked beautifully. Small nits would be that the door was hard to close, the water in the sink was colored at first (maybe they had turned the water off for repairs and sediment came out?), and the tub stopper did not work well enough to keep the water from draining. Oh, and the vending machine was fill with nothing healthy. …
We asked for a room away from traffic when we booked a room. (It is located right on a busy street and doors and windows face street or a quiet parking lot on the back of the building.) We were given a room on second floor right by roaring highway. No option to move. Luckily when in the room the noise was muffled by the loud air conditioner. (!) Room was clean and comfortable. Hated the square, raised sink. Had to balance the sliver of soap they give you on the corner edges. No tissues, so had to use toilet paper. Google search listed breakfast as an amenity, but none provided. Enjoyed the large fridge with separate freezer. Used charging port on microwave. Different! Even though things were not perfect, the room felt updated and nice.
Older lodge with key updates to make anyone’s stay enjoyable. Clean affordable accommodations right in the heart of Sausalito. Recommended for a stay where convenience is key. A short way drive to downtown Sausalito as well as San Francisco.
