We often stop here for a bite to eat. The staff are always friendly and helpful. The coffee is good and generally the food is enjoyable. We do love to sit outside and watch the river. A good place to go and beats any of the cafe s in Hay

Wonderful greeting with complimentary drink. Set the tone of the visit. Staff were young, enthusiastic and a credit to the hotel. The room was cheerful, exceptionally clean. Food was really good and good value and the breakfasts set you up for the day.

Yes, menu change a must. Surely it is not only boring for the customer but for the chef to prepare the same food day in day out. The business will suffer if you don't rise to the challenge. The pate is delicious, but you can have too much of a good thing. It is a great venue with much improved...

The River Cafe is our 'local' and we use it regularly as treat for our girls, for whom the milk shakes are just brilliant. But on a rare night out, we went to the River Cafe to find exactly the same menu in place for the past 3 years (at least) - and it is the same menu for both...

Fantastic venue, lovely staff, great atmosphere. The room was great, clean, tidy. Stunning views. We stayed 2 nights and I cannot recommend it enough. Above a great restaurant and right next to the river Wye. Go!

we visited the river care for lunch - incredible fish and chips, best ive ever had. The fish was cooked to perfection, perfect chips too, and the accompanying coleslaw was delicious and the tartare sauce divine. Booked up to stay for one night so we could enjoy more good food and a view of the river. Staff were really friendly....

Arrived to go kayaking as a group, was advised that the cafe (owned by the same people) do a great breakfast. So we happily made our way next door to sample the breakfast and the coffees. We were a party of around 10 people and we were advised as soon as walked in that they had a large group booking...

What a great place. Fantastic food and service. The steaks were awesome and the bros loved the crab thing. Breakfasts hit the spot too. Rooms very comfortable and clean etc. Kayak was fun and very easy going although I wasn't allowed a splash desk being a mere 1 star. Great service picking us up down river.

We , my partner and I, booked a Tuesday evening. From an excellent menu we choose the cod and chips which were excellent followed by coffee on the outdoor patio overlooking the river Wye , on an idyllic summer evening it doesn't get much better
