We have stayed at numerous Bed and Breakfasts over the years, and this was by far, the best we have ever stayed in. Marilyn is an excellent hostess, and both her breakfasts and evening desserts are creative and delicious. We always felt "at home" and enjoyed our evening retreats to the beautiful deck, and the evening lighting of Mt. Rushmore....

Marilyn gave us an itinerary every morning when we set out to make sure we had incredible experiences every day. Our trip was remarkable because we stayed at Buffalo Rock. The rooms are great, the view of Mount Rushmore is a huge bonus and the breakfast is quite good. We loved it.

Every glowing review about this beautiful home, the view from the deck, Marilyn's hospitality and knowledge of the area, and her breakfasts are absolutely true, times ten! My Wisconsin family found her B&B a perfect location to base ... So convenient to all of the attractions in the Black Hills. We loved our stay here and wouldn't hesitate to stay...

This is a beautiful log home about 3 miles up a mountain..Marilyn is the owner operator and she has a wealth of knowledge about this area...the deck is beautiful and you can look straight across as a crow flies and see Mt Rushmore. The room we stayed in was huge with a king size bed, jacuzzi, shower..we could walk out...

Beautiful surroundings with a view of Mount Rushmore from the property! Beautiful home, built with and run with love and a true desire for hospitality! An extremely knowledgeable innkeeper with strong roots and fondness of the area. It was so nice to have Marilyn's itineraries for our daily excursions---saved so much time! Wish we could have stayed longer! I would...

The Oakes' deliver a relaxing, better than home atmosphere to enjoy. Day trips, wildlife, amazing breakfasts, history, and a deck chair with your name on it! Marilyn's hospitality is unmatched and her incomparable zest for life and encouragement of her guests' adventures will keep you busy for days. Thanks for the wonderful time, as always!

The log structure is amazing and there is actually a view of Mount Rushmore from the dining area and deck! The room was large and comfortable, much nicer than most hotels. Marilyn's breakfasts were wonderful and filling to the point where we skipped lunch. The evening desserts were a really nice touch. Marilyn was also very accommodating of our unorthodox...

Actual lodge cabin! Got to know the other guests and had a great time. Much better than staying in another hotel during our cross country road trip. Would highly recommend! Owner is very social and her late husband famously helped lead the fund to turn the lights back on Mt. Rushmore at night, which you can see in the distance...

The pictures of Buffalo Rock Lodge do not do it justice. It is beautiful and inviting. You can't believe this is your home (at least for a few days). A huge rough hewn and iron clad (adorned with etched buffalo) door greet you as you pass into the entry. Then two enormous (3 ft diameter) trees guard your entrance into...

...we had very high expectations!!!! What a wonderful place. The lodge is gorgeous and quite comfortable. We stayed in the Peter Norbeck Bedroom downstairs and never went upstairs where there was a communal TV and pool table along with two additional bedrooms. We enjoyed the comfortable living area along with the deck overlooking (at a distance) Mt. Rushmore outside our...
