We booked Casa Ruy Lopez as a stopover on our way up from Malaga to Portugal. The small hotel is beautifully decorated and the room very comfortable. Breakfast was 5*, with a selection of cereales, breads, cold meats, cheeses, cakes and jams. Overall incredible value. An enjoyable stay in a lovely family run small hotel

Stayed here for one night. Perfect location....quiet street.... parked streetside. Breakfast very good, and included in price. Would definitely return. Rooms and hotel very clean and well run. Compliment to Helene!

We have owned a house in the area for 12 years, and returned in order to complete the sale.After a stressful few days we stayed here for three nights prior to returning to the UK. the owners could not have been more welcoming or obliging, even down to offering to garage our fully loaded car in his own garage rather than leave it on the street. That said, we did leave it on the street and it was perfectly safe and secure. The room was prefect, the location perfect, staff very helpful, and breakfast just right!

After initially struggling to find the hotel as it is tucked away in a pedestrian street (we had been warned) some very helpful locals pointed it out to us about 200m away from where we were. We rang the number on the door and watched life go on around us in a small square. When the owner arrived he couldn't have been more friendly and helpful, we utilised our poor Spanish and his phone translating app. We had booked what was described as the junior suite, a beautifully finished room with a seating area and terrace. The only down side being the low level of lighting and the shower wasn't the greatest. A charming place to stay, wonderful people, a refreshing reminder that it often pays to stay away from the big shiny hotel sites. Very clean. Would recommend to anyone. You have to find a parking space nearby but it is a small Spanish town and wonderful.…

I decided to stay here after reading the reviews and I wasn't disappointed. The owner was very welcoming and helpful and the attention to detail was great. A nice breakfast was provided for me every morning to set me up for the days visits. The hostal is within easy walk of the centre and there are plenty of restaurants nearby. There is nothing negative to say. The stay was pleasant, rooms comfortable, good wifi connection, nice breakfast and a really friendly owner. Should I ever go to Zafra again I wouldn't hesitate to book to stay here again. 5stars all round.

We didn't know what to expect as it was described as a Hostal and incredibly good value but it was only for one night so we had booked it anyway. It was absolutely perfect, charming rooms, good location near the beautiful Plaza Grande and Plaza de las Chicas. The room was well-equipped , spotlessly clean, free toiletries and was better than some four star hotels. The best part was the owner who gave us a very warm welcome and could not do enough to help us including finding us a parking space when we couldn't. We liked it so much we stayed there again on our return trip. Small but perfect!

Excellent value for money. Good location near the Plaza Chica and the Plaza Grande . Easy parking nearby. Air-conditioned room and magnificent breakfast all for €45.00 per night! The guy in charge Manuel very helpful and friendly, we even got the morning papers with out breakfast served in the patio.
