The grand hotel entrance and reception area set the standard for the hotel, as did the website descriptions which overflowed with superlatives. The room however fell well short of expectations. On level 3, the room was small and boxy. The curtain was torn, black mould behind the basin, one towel hook hanging off the wall and the paintwork generally scuffed. The shower is a death trap. The base of the shower is formed from high gloss tiles at nearly 2° fall. It’s about all you can do to stay standing without sliding to one side. On the night of our stay, there was a wedding going on and the noise from screaming children up and down the corridor kept us awake. Like many hotels in Spain, it falls down on attention to detail. The building clearly once was very grand but needs significant updating and maintenance if it is to continue to attract future clients. …
My room was much more spartan than the lead picture, but it was very nice nonetheless. Service was helpful and the menu of the day dinner was very very good for the price. Nice and quiet as well. It is also close to other shops and restaurants and just a little ways from the Camino VDLP path. Many of the rooms overlook a courtyard which is nice since the windows open and you can get some fresh air without the street noise.
The hitel is very beautiful and standard rooms are modern and spacious. Rooms on the pictures are probably suites only. Personell doesn't speak any English, hence asking for help or directions is rather difficult. I give it 3 stars because of bad breakfast. Having only half of the tables occupied they didn't manage to have enough of clean glasses and cups, enough of food and even didn't bother to clean the tables after guests left. The choice of products was not large but suffucient.
Sitting in the sunny patio of Huerta Honda for the tapas, a lovely quiet place with a modern ancient atmosphere. Friendly service. The tapas, refined and surprising in combination of tastes: my favourite salmorejo de naranja con bacalao. Second: Buñuelos de morcilla con espuma de pera. The kebab was nice but for me more familiar. With a nice glass of verdejo, what a luxury to spend an hour and a half
What a little gem! Upon our arrival we were met by the friendliest receptionist we’ve ever met! Located in the center of Zafre with an underground parking (€8 / day) little small and hard to park but we’ve managed just fine. We booked into a suite (403 Red ) on the 4th floor and let me tell you...... it was gorgeous! Bathroom itself was bigger than some rooms we’ve stayed at.... king size very comfortable room, mini bar included, amazing amazing view of the city. It was our last night during our road trip and that room and that hotel made our last night really special..... really Spanish feeling! There was a bar in the center of hotel with view of the castle, fantastic place to have a drink. I’ve only one negative experience with the breakfast..... very very poor choices, no one spoke any English and we couldn’t even get a hot water to make some tea but I would stay there again if I’m ever in Zafre ! …
Stopped here for coffee on a visit to Zara. The cafe is an enchanting and lovely setting, with great furnishings and a relaxing atmosphere. The staff are friendly and helpful and the facilities are exceptionally well maintained. It’s lovely and we would recommend it.
I just spent one night at Hotel Huerta Honda, arrived quite late in the evening and didn't get a chance to try the breakfast. However, the room was clean tastefully furnished and came at a good price. Some kind of illumination on the bathroom light switch would be good, because when I got up at night, I had some trouble finding it. When travelling by car, the parking situation is also not too great. What struck me as very positive was the friendliness and good English skills of the ladies working at the front desk. If all the employees are like this, guests will definitely feel welcome at this hotel!
We weren't staying at the Hotel Huerta Honda but at a sister hotel down the road. We visited their restaurant and had dinner that evening in their internal open air courtyard. A very pleasant meal. Helpful staff and a great location
We stopped off at Hotel Huerta Honda for a spot of light lunch in their outside restaurant. The menu had the usual tapas style selection but, unfortunately didn’t contain a soup dish which is what we were really looking for – which was a shame. We were about to leave, but on seeing the chef, I mentioned that it was a pity that soup was not on the menu. No matter, he said, I will make some especially for you and please take a seat in the courtyard whilst I prepare it for you. This we did and to while the time away we ordered a beer and (for a lady who doesn’t normally drink bear) a ‘lemon beer'. Which is almost like a shandy- -most tasty and refreshing she said! The drinks were supported by a bowl of some of the best olives that we have tasted in a long time. Then a bit later two large plates of chicken noodle soup arrived with three side dishes of, chopped ham, croutons and chopped boiled egg – plus bread of course And the bill for all this lot? A mere 12.75 Euros!!…
I'll never understand why people are paying twice the price next door in the Parador, where here in the Huerta Honda you have all the elegance, comfort, and personal service, at half the price. In a stunning building around a beautiful patio, the Huerta Honda is perfectly situated for exploring Zafra. Helpful and friendly reception staff advise on parking, walking, restaurants and visits. I'll stay again.
