From the moment we checked in, we felt at home. The family run business is warm and welcoming. The room was very comfortable and came with air conditioning, not always important in this part of Spain, but needed during this hot summer. Dinner was delicious; we ate 2 of the three nights there and breakfast was nice. We enjoyed our stay here very much!
We stayed at la Corte de lugas for one night. Quiet place. We had a very nice dinner served by franklin who was great and helpful. Carolina and Danny ( the owners) are very nice. The room was clean. The room might benefit from a better shower and more light.
Lovely clean and friendly place but way out of town. This could be good if that's what you want. A few simple things would make a big difference. Lighting in the rooms is terrible. Take a torch. Could be easily improved. Shower head sprays all over the place. Simple maintenance?? Dog friendly?? But?? Power points available if you unplug the rare lights. Handling your bags up the various stairs can be a real issue. Hope these comments are taken in the spirit in which they are given.
Lovely location, the room had very poor lighting to be able to read ,the same as the bathroom. We were unable to have a proper bath as the water kept running away. When we went for dinner ,the restaurant smelt of oil and petrol, from a road bike parked in the middle of the dinning room.......apparently the owner's pride and joy. The starters were ok but the main was full of oil ,even the chips were very oily...impossible to eat . The waitress apologised and we were not charged. La verdad es que aparte del lugar, tranquilo no tiene nada especial!!!
Just off the main auto-route via the lovely town of Villaviciosa....rustic accommodation but clean, some in the old house and some in a new wing close by. We were in the main house which did not have air con but a fan was supplied. Friendly welcome and good restaurant on site serving some delicious food. Breakfast excellent. Parking easy but there are some steps to negotiate. Dog friendly....during our visit Blas the dog and Dani were not present and they were missed!!
La Cortes de Lugas was booked because it most importantly accepted dogs! We upgraded our room to a bungalow which was separated from the hotel by a few steps and a small walk. Modern and spacious inside. We stayed at the hotel again on our return and stayed in a twin room with lounge in a different part of the hotel - again accessed by steps. The room was preferred by us, but this is only our opinion as it was a twin bed and overlooked the fields. Both rooms were very clean and the Twin Room more rustic - WiFi and Air-Con are available. Have to mention the superb water pressure - hot bath - hot shower! Ample car parking but again accessed by steps. The hotel is accessed through Villaviciosa (from A-8) and then up quite a steep hill but not too far from the main A-8. Dani and his sister and very welcoming and English is spoken. However the real delight, for us, was the restaurant! We choose to eat there on both stays and were not disappointed. The quality of the food and preparation was, in our opinion, superb! The patience of the waitress (sorry no name) was unlimited explaining the menus and checking for ingredients!!! Well priced good wine. Lovely restaurant with Dani's much loved motor bike taking centre stage! Breakfast was again of the highest quality and home cooked .....mention for homemade Suspiros biscuits and Chocolate cake! Already booked for next year!!! Note: take a walk to the nearby Church it's up quite a steep hill but worth the effort...…
When I was looking for dog friendly hotels on my trip to Galicia, I struck gold here. The area is serene, the rooms terrific, and the food bloody excellent. All the staff couldn't be more friendly. One day I will return, it's that good.
La Corte de Lugas was discovered by an internet search for our six night holiday in Asturias. On arrival we were greeted by Blas the owner Dani's Spanish Water Dog who kindly offered us an orange, we were then warmly welcomed by Dani. Our traditional Spanish room was spacious, comfortable and peaceful. Our thanks to Dani who was most helpful and knowledgeable and an ideal host throughout our six night stay also our special than's to Carolina and Paula for their care and attention throughout.. Breakfast was well presented and offered a wide choice of food many items homemade. Dinner menu was of a wide selection with sufficient choice to satisfy all tastes. Nearby are the Suave Mountains and the Picos de Europa also a ride up the Bulnes Funicular is not to be missed. Nearby Villaviciosa is a very attractive small town with free car parking, both the old and new areas are well worth a visit. Try Cafe Viena in the Square for your morning coffee also there is a large market in the Square every Wednesday. We hope to return in 2017. Our thanks to all for a very enjoyable stay in the beautiful area of Green Spain.…
We stayed 4 nights on our Asturias tour. All we really wanted was peace and quiet and did we get it. The Casita de la Plaza - an independent home - was beautifully furnished, with all the modern amenities, set in a quaint and rustic setting. Daniel, the host, who we were in constant touch with, was extremely helpful. The house itself is warm and cozy, perfect for two, with windows opening up to fabulous views of the countryside. And it is about a 10 minute drive from Villaviciosa. Gijon, Oviedo and other towns are an hour's drive away. But we were content to just relax, put up our feet, listen to music on the wonderful system, or walk around the apple orchards right outside!
I travel the world for my job and have stayed in all types of properties, ranging from budget to luxury. This hotel I have to say was one of my saddest experiences. Not only was the ambiance of the entire property dark and depressing, the hotel restaurant was overpriced, with a limited menu and sub-standard quality. When asked checking out how my experience was at the restaurant, I gave the owner my my honest feedback. His response was that their prices were fair for the area of Villaviciosa. Clearly trying to understand why the quality wasn't at its best was not a priority for him. Also on one of the days, the day was spoilt with rain, so my husband and I decided to do some work on our laptops in the lounge. Half of the lights were not working and the owners didn't even think to change the light bulbs. Therefore working in near darkness was the best that we could do. Asturias at its best my @£&*…
